I’m reasonably convinced that the flat earther explosion was at least encouraged by nefarious actors to see what dumb shit people will actually believe. I feel like the flat earth videos on YouTube are directly related to the recent rise of the extreme right, it primed so many of these people to reject reality so completely.

10 and 2 was always stupid. When I was young I got an opportunity to go to a racing school and that was one of the first things they talked about. If you mime driving a car, do you put your hands at 10 and 2? No, you’ll probably do 9 and 3. Better control, less going hand over hand.
Also you should push the steering wheel with your outside hand, not pull it. Smoother input.
- Comment on Are there good Movies, TV Shows, Anime, with wholesome family (particularly parent-child) relations? 1 month ago:
Medalist is an anime about figure skating and the relationship between the young skater and her coach is wholesome as fuck. Not a parent per se but similar vibes. I particularly like how they both help each other; adults have problems too and kids are smarter than we adults often give them credit for, and the show captures that very well. If you like the dynamic in Spy X Family you’ll probably like it.
Also the skating is beautifully animated and the sports anime structure keeps the plot moving along. One of my favorite shows of all time.

- Comment on Are there video media (e.g TV shows, Movies, anime, video games, youtube videos, etc...) with a majority of the dialogue in an fictional language? 1 month ago:
Sigur Ros is a band that sings in a fictional language, I’m pretty sure. Not totally what you’re asking for but certainly in the spirit

Pineapple is good and not even particularly controversial despite how much the haters seem to want to make it. There was a place I used to live near that did a “cheeseburger” pizza with ground hamburger, onions, pickles, and mustard. I fucking loved it but that thing was CONTROVERSIAL

Did you have a rough recovery? I was sore for a few days but I thought it was a breeze, all things considered.
- Comment on Have most people never seen a full starry night sky 4 months ago:
This made me very sad. I’m very privileged, I live in a dark sky community very near a big telescope and on the border of a huge desert. My dad’s really into astronomy, looking at the night sky has been a big part of my life. I lived for a bit in the city, and the sky was one of the things I missed the most.
It’s like the ocean, I suppose. Another thing that it seems impossible to me that people could go their whole lives and never see, but maybe most do.

I love spicy foods and they don’t upset my stomach. Though I did eat one of those “one chip challenge” things back in the day and I did fine at the time but the next two days or so I felt like I had been poisoned. Only time that ever happened to me. You probably have a threshold too but it’s just very high. Genetics and practice helps, your gut biome critters are probably used to it too.

Because alignment of your physical and mental self is very gratifying. Ask trans folks. The problem, I think, is chasing an unattainable self image and trying to fix what’s inside by changing what’s outside.
Personally, I find the idea of changing my appearance surgically for beauty standards rather distasteful, but I am a person who has always been pretty confident and comfortable with who I am. Cosmetic surgery as you describe it in general strikes me as vain and bougie, and ultimately just makes everyone look the same, which I feel strongly about. Don’t get me started on these face filters.
All that said, I have tattoos and whatnot that others might find distasteful but they make me feel more like who I really am and I wouldn’t trade it for the world. I support (and engage in) all sorts of gender-affirming behaviors meant to change my appearance though, so maybe I’m a hypocrite?
I once met a man who had functionally turned himself into a cat, via surgery. Screw in whiskers, lip bifurcation and cheek implants, everything. He was a nice guy, very kind and surprisingly shy given how much he worked to stand out. That’s how he was most comfortable and I respect that. I liked him a lot better than the gaggle of rich blonde moms who all had the exact same faces that I see at the mall or whatever.
Everybody should look the way they want to look. I guess maybe make sure you keep up the insides too, lest you mistake a lake of spirit for a lack of beauty.

- Comment on DAN DA DAN Season 1 Was America's Most Watched Anime Series For 18 to 49 Year Olds, Says Nielsen Data 6 months ago:
Does Solo Leveling have an episode early on where it suddenly gets better or something? I watched like 6 episodes and it’s just violent and boring, I couldn’t stick with it. Everybody sucks and even the leveling trope isn’t used very interestingly. It’s so well regarded though, I don’t get the appeal.
The first 6 episodes of Gurren Lagann suck mostly, though, and then from ep 7 it’s a masterpiece, so I guess it happens.

I disagree, I want working actors to get paid. I will always take Maurice LaMarche over an AI Orson Welles. Just get that YouTube Grocery Vader guy like they did for Force Unleashed, he’s great.
