Mickey 17 and the world will tremble.

The music was absolutely stunning.
My boyfriend had a cry after watching it together. He told me he really related to this movie in the sense that he felt like Mickey 18 being angry at 17 for being such a push over, but felt so helpless.

I loved Mickey 17. It was amazing.

Anora. The first half hour or so has a lot of party and club scenes and after a bit it feels like a tiktok feed. When it really dives into the story it gets good, with a lot of conflicting interests and very good performances. Overall my wife and I enjoyed it, and being rarely able to sit and watch a movie together lately that’s worth a lot.

Now watch Aniara for an existential crisis.

Just watched John Wick last night. Pretty cool but honestly his motivation is kind of dumb. Yeah, the dog has great sentimental value but then you go and kill like 40 people and throw your life away? Maybe the point of the movie is that he never really got out of the life, indeed
FooBarrington@lemmy.world 5 days ago
IMO that’s the point - he doesn’t have anything to live for, or left to lose.
But I also don’t think it’s supposed to be a good, logical motivation - simply an emotional one. And you gotta admit, there’s probably no setup that better pulls people on his side than killing that puppy like that.

Yeah, seeing the kid die was awesome after he bragged about killing the dog hahahaha
Such a cool movie with great shots and coreography

My kids were chatting about the minecraft movie this morning. How is it?
BlueBaggy@sh.itjust.works 6 days ago
It kinda struggles to stand on its own but if your kids are part of the “Minecraft culture” I think they’ll enjoy it.

Princess Mononoke (4K IMAX) 4.5/5: This movie is so great and this was a beautiful restoration. What an experience
The Saint 2/5: Watched this in honor of Val Kilmer’s passing. In hindsight there may have been better choices, it really gives “Mission Impossible at home”
The Luckiest Man in America 3.5/5: I thought this was alright, I kinda wish it had gone more into how Micheal actually beat the system. It also got a little loose with the facts but whatever
Drop 1/5: This shit sucked. I saw it for Mystery Movie Monday and was initially confused why someone brought a toddler to an R rated screening. Nope, this is PG-13. This woman is the worst fucking date of all time, the waiter is an improv comedian, and the plot is nonsensical. Also the title sucks, the “Drop” basically doesn’t matter for the whole movie

Watched JANA GANA MANA (Malayalam) : just cringe

Sing Street (2016)
A beautiful coming-of-age story set against the backdrop of 1980s Ireland and the eclectic soundtrack of the generation while paying homage to it with fun original tracks plus wardrobe to match. I wholeheartedly recommend this film to anyone especially those a fan of music and I might even prefer it over Once.Magnolia (1999)
Separate seemingly unrelated stories runs parallel and lightly weaves together into this tapestry where the weather matches the pace. Everybody was wrenching in this drama-filled ensemble but Tom Cruise may have stolen the limelight with his portrayal of the chauvinistic grifter T. J. Mackey. The Lodge (2019)
There are certain ubiquitous elements to horror that are missing - or misses the mark - so it did not properly resonate with me. However, I can envision why some may recommend the film and a cursory search seems to show such a divide.Joker: Folie à Deux (2024)
“What a movie” is the best remark I could give to this film that would have worked better without its popular titular character. It manages to alienate fans from all camps with an ending that nullifies and it being a jukebox musical does not do it any favours. It is a sequel that did not need to be made and now sours the memory of Joker.

Tombstone, 1993.
With the passing of Val Kilmer, I realized I had still never seen it!
Finally realized the source of this meme:

Bone Tomahawk has the same vibe as Tombstone, but traumatic AF.
