How will any system fjx this, though? There will always be disasters, hunger, war, crime…

There’s something to be said about choosing not to care about some stuff, though. Being constantly contemplating every single crisis in the world and worrying equally about them all will be damaging to your mental health… And these days there are more pressing issues than the moths to me. It’s not that I don’t value them

In my sector it’s just incompetence. Bosses are under the illusion that being able to see the workers in and out makes them better at managing their hours (false) and that being able to physically reach someone makes the communication more efficient (also false)
- Comment on Bill Skarsgård Returns as Pennywise in Chilling First Trailer for HBO's 'It: Welcome to Derry 2 days ago:
I’ll just keep pretending the first reboot movie is the complete story, thanks. That mix of kids on bikes with subtle cosmic horror and some surrealist stuff is damn good
- Comment on Max changing name back to HBO 6 days ago:
I mean, I’m in a “global” market (Brazil) and HBO is by far the best service around. Over here they have all the best shows I would want to watch, tons of good animation and all the non-Disney big budget geeky franchises (Batman, Superman, Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, etc). I’ve never heard of a new series by them, but why would I even care? What is there to watch is already more than I need for my lifetime
- Comment on What are you watching and, what do you recommend this week? 6 days ago:
Just finished season 4 of The Wire. They really turned it up the depressing nature of the story with this season, damn
- Comment on What are some examples of series that only have a good first season, and should be dropped after that? 1 week ago:
To be fair, it was the highest possible bar to clear. True Detective season 1 is arguably the best TV has ever gotten, it was just perfect from story to pacing to acting and cinematography
- Comment on What are some examples of series that only have a good first season, and should be dropped after that? 1 week ago:
Hard disagree. Bleach was advertised as a dumb battle shonen when it’s main achievement is the lore and art. There’s still plenty of good stuff after the first season, and basically none of the worldbuilding is done by that point
- Comment on Bungie appears to have plagarized an artist's work and style in their extraction shooter "Marathon" according to this Bluesky post 1 week ago:
I agree but it can get pretty close. Try asking gpt-4o to generate a realistic picture of an adventure who wears a hat and wields a whip to find lost treasure. It returns basically a picture of Harrison Ford

It’s a real boardgame, too. Looks like this is the digital adaptation

I won’t forgive DC if this isn’t good

How were people brainwashed into thinking OJ was “healthy”? It’s the closest equivalent to natural candy I can think of. Tons of sugar offset by juicy acidity

Bethesda is such a garbage company. No idea why people buy these half assed games

Was Yellowstone such a huge success to warrant a thousand spin offs? Did I miss something?

Stop the liberal anti wallcandy propaganda. It feels so good to eat the wall candy. It tastes exactly like cotton candy but it’s available in my walls and my mattress
- Comment on Tabletop Convection Oven* 2 weeks ago:
It is an oven with the convection setting turned on by default. So it’s like having an oven but for a regular person instead of the design made for 1960s suburban moms cooking for 10, like the “regular” oven

Gotta go with Dwarf Fortress. Been playing on and off for the past 10 years at least, it’s just endless !!FUN!!

Carmella “you made me so hawt down thea” to a comatose Tony was something, especially with that weird camera angle
- Comment on Anon missed /pol/ 3 weeks ago:
What do non-violent “protests” do? Why would police ever really try to supress them if they don’t serve any purpose other than virtue signalling? Do you protesters expect Trump to stop ICE raids because “wow, I guess these signs with me drawn as a pig are really making me think”, or MAGA supporters to stop voting for him because you wasted your sunday out in the sun walking around?
- Comment on Anon missed /pol/ 3 weeks ago:
I won’t believe the left is actually seriously preparing until I start seeing some Onion links around. We’re probably on a list just for using Lemmy, which is notoriously leftist, and talking about this stuff publicly, unveiled, with a registered account is honestly below Hegseth level OPSEC

It actually is good, though. Russians are resorting to sync scams in Ukraine so they can get intel, if Signal was breached they wouldn’t need to do it

The Wire would blow up in the binge era
- Comment on What show are you surprise managed to finish, or get many seasons out of it at least, and avoid cancellation? 4 weeks ago:
It’s pretty amazing that Rick and Morty has managed to go on for years now without Justin Roiland. This pretty much solidifies Dan Harmon as the heart of the show (as many suspected) and, with Community in his curriculum, a pretty good comedic writer
Though the show did get extremely weird with the sex stuff, why is Jerry talking about watching porn in front of his kids?
