Are the toys inside original again or still just stupid marketing tie ins of the movie du jour?

If you’re in usa, it’s illegal to sell the good ones. You’re not allowed to have inedible, non-food items fully surrounded by food. Items like corndogs are ok since the stick is exposed, but the plastic eggs fully enclosed by chocolate are not ok.
We can’t have nice things because American corporations couldn’t be trusted to not bake rocks into bread, unless it was against the law

You can do that here, you just can’t sell it and also call it food. You could sell such a thing as a rock with organic protective covering and be as OK as anyone is here.

Honestly no idea, haven’t bought one for so many years

Some of each.

I mean we have them just not the ones with plastic in them. I guess they wouldn’t quite taste the same.
Eheran@lemmy.world 2 weeks ago
What would taste different and why?

The American version is two packaged chocolate halves. The toy is in the middle. The original is banned by FDA in America because it has the plastic egg within the chocolate egg and there is a clause in the FDA regulations that says non food items cannot be within packaging unless necessary. And the toy is not necessary according to them. The taste is a texture (shape) difference. Ingredients are the same as far as I know.

If I remember correctly, they don’t even have chocolate in solid form, and the plastic egg splits into two halves, with one having the toy inside and the other some kind of white thing with two balls.
This is not really a kinder egg tbh, it is too different and loses the cool part about it which is the toy being inside the chocolate egg.

This one actually hurts. Kinder joy is just so devoid of joy compared to kinder surprise.

At this point, those are probably cheaper than actual eggs in some places.

Seen pictures of eggs at $10 for 10, so yeah maybe…

Lol, these were actually legit banned until somewhat recently. So this post actually makes a bit of sense!

Sorry we can’t have those either becuase we’re too [something] to raise our kids. They got pulled and reformulated in the US because of choking hazards.
DragonTypeWyvern@midwest.social 2 weeks ago
The law that banned them actually started because, capitalism being capitalism, a pharmaceutical company just straight up made a medicine that was poison.
…wikipedia.org/…/Federal_Food,_Drug,_and_Cosmetic…
The initial regulations banned any inclusion of inedible material in edible products. It wasn’t about choking, necessarily, more targeted at companies including inedible fillers and sediment contamination, although about ten kids have died from the Kinder Surprise eggs and it’s just a stupid product made with shitty chocolate even in Europe.

Guys it’s a trap! There’s a hard thing in the middle that doesn’t have any flavor, and I nearly killed myself swallowing it!
Calling my lawyer now.
