  I saw an interview with him somewhere in which he described coming to this voice. He took diction classes in college, and developed his cadence by consciously fillers like “uh…” with pauses, which gives him gravitas.

  I wonder what he sounds like at home.

  I made it through some bad stuff, but ejected at some point. The last arc I remember they visited something like a waystation and had to kill someone? Memory is fuzzy. Don’t recall what made me drop it.

  I was there without any idea that there was a special botanical event. Just wanted to see some plants.

  That corpse flower is HUGE! The different tools is it bloomed 48 hours before we got there and that the smell lasted 12 hours or less. We were lucky to catch it in its three days of bloom, especially since apparently that plane was blooming for the first time after 18 years.

  For anyone wanting to know more about these books, Reading Smut is a side-project podcast by the hosts of Reading Glasses. It’s really interesting, with lots of thoughtful guests and often odd books. One of the first episodes covered a book about a door that comes to life and lusts after the woman who lives inside.
