Watched Ratatouille before. An excellent movie. Might follow it up with some Star Wars.
I’m kind of scared to watch episodes 1 to 3, but I have to see for myself if it’s as terrible as the masses have said.
SituationCake@aussie.zone 1 week ago
My unpopular opinion: episodes 1 to 3 though not as good as 4-6, are far superior to any of the subsequent reboot sequels.
Taleya@aussie.zone 1 week ago
1-3 are big dumb space battle fun. By that point in the in-universe chronology the board is very clear and the endgame commences. 4-6 are more complex - political thriller, fascist coup d’etat, one man’s journey to radicalism and insanity oh shit that’s gonna read so differently now as opposed to release
Duenan@aussie.zone 1 week ago
The original 4-6 still holds up very well even to this day.
1-3 isn’t horrible by any means but they’re a little different and probably still behind 4-6 if you ask me.
If you manage to get through 1-3 you have to watch the Obi Wan Kenobi series.
7-9 left me feeling funny with the way they handled them.

It’s a lot but I reckon Clone Wars, Rebels and The Bad Batch is some of the better star wars content.

happy note, omg, Chappell Roan’s dress at the Grammys is to die for.

There is a lot going on there.

I took a picture of the sparrows hopping in the chili plants eating all the aphids. You have to look close, there are 3 in there I think. 🐥 ❤️

Looking healthy!

I have a sparrow family that visits my backyard. The parents seem to have brought the kids to show them where the birdbath is, and I occasionally throw crumbs out for them. It’s lovely to watch them
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 1 week ago
❤️ for the birdbath, over the next few weeks of no rain the birds are going to need it.
I might get a birdbath on a pedestal for the little front yard .

Poor Melbcat. She managed well though, waited in her bed for me to come out of the bathroom and then tucked in under the doona next to me.

Goodnight all ❤️ One more day and things will be sane again with the weather!

hmm. I may have found an aussie solution to the water issue - basically we can’t run a dry line from downspout A to B the tank because there’s a window in the way, no clearance for a fall. And I generally hate wet systems (they end up full of shit, are a hassle to maintain and breed mosquitos like fucking whoa), but there’s this baby that just might do it…anyone care to poke holes?

This website is outdated and looks like dogshit so either this thing is absolutely perfect at what it does or is a scam. It’s one or the other with no inbetween
Taleya@aussie.zone 1 week ago
TBH that’s pretty standard for aussie businesses.
Thornburywitch@aussie.zone 1 week ago
Interesting. Basically a vertical swale with gravity removing the usual debris. I think that small inputs would largely be wasted, cos you’d need a certain amount of velocity to get the water stream hitting the filters, but could be harvested with a conventional swale. I would also assume that there’s a way to clean the filters but that’s not obvious from the diagram.
Taleya@aussie.zone 1 week ago
for the filter, take it out and hose it from behind.
The smaller inputs intrigue me because this almost looks like a gutter fed ram pump of all things. it builds the siphon then VOOM. if so I’m bloody hooking a turbine up lol.

6 hours sleep and a very large coffee please. A nice added extra would be a baseball bat to clobber my boss who is disgustingly cheerful this morning.

Fell asleep after dentist and the tidying isn’t done. -_- Screw it. I’m just gonna scoop everything into a laundry basket, shove it all in the other room, and sweep the floor. The litterboxes have been cleaned. Bin emptied. Dishes being run.
Cat health
Melbcat was kind of following the treat bag with her head as I moved it back and forth but her eyes weren’t focused on it. Not great but I’m begging for this to mean her eyes are improving somewhat. I’m hoping it was the enrofloxacin that caused this and not high blood pressure from kidney disease because the second is so much worse news for us. Trying to wait for more info before panicking 😢 I need to write a list of questions. I need to get her health in hand.
Arsehole neighbours/tree law
Ps. There are two invasive trees planted with their trunks literally centimetres from my wall/foundation. The roots are already fully through my soil and they’re already overhanging dropping leaves into my property. I’ve been ignoring and grumbling. But now a root is sending up shoots, trying to grow a new tree and take over more land. Basically the trees are very incorrectly planted and invasive so I’m worried about the foundation or wall of my house cracking as the trees grow larger. I was thinking of calling the council. However the person who planted it is not a reasonable person (possible serious mental illness) and has been physically violent in the past. So the standard channels of having a chat, throwing trimmings back over the fence, or attending mediation aren’t going to be possible. Trying to get the trees removed would also ignite world war three. I’m aware that convenient accidents can happen but I’m not aware of tree law and do not want to risk court, fines, a record, or a physical fight. So what should I do? There doesn’t seem like much I can do without making my own life exponentially harder. I’m thinking of ringing up and explaining that there’s an impending problem with invasive trees but the owner unlikely to comply and more likely to get violent, so what are my options. And if there isn’t much I can do without the person kicking off then I’ll send in photos of the situation and at least get it on record that the trees don’t belong to me. The reason being that the owner of a tree that causes damage is liable for the costs, this person is a known liar who would blame it on me, and I don’t want to be on the hook for damages.

And no power. At least the house is still fairly cool.
