But… why? I’m sure nobody at the McDonald’s even noticed or cared about him, let alone who he was talking to, or pretending to talk to.

When you’re this depressed and alone having other people think that you’ve got your shit together and aren’t more depressed than the imprint in your mattress can be away of escapism for just a short amount of time.

Fair enough. I guess everyone deals with depression in different ways.

Me ordering food that could feed a family of three on a friday evening then eating all by myself

I’m thin, but I have only once cared how much food another person orders or eats. If someone eats 4 times what I would, I would be impressed. The one time I was surprised by someone’s overeating was a morbidly obese woman that was easy over 500 lbs. She was stuck living at home and people would care for her. She took up a 3-person couch to eat lunch. She had a mountain of fried chicken wings, and she was going at them like something I had never seen before. It wasn’t enjoyment. She ate them desperately and would cry. She had a bucket next to her in which she vomited several times throughout the meal. The poor woman wasn’t not eating just because it tasted good. She was meeting a deep personal need that had gotten terribly out of control. Even then, I didn’t think to judge and shame her like she was bad. I felt confused but bad for her. She was obviously unwell. Still, I doubt you’re eating like that.
I think that if someone is judging you for your intake amount, that’s their problem. I have my own things that others like to judge and shame. If someone does, then I know they’re an asshole and I stay away from them. I am not going to concern myself with the opinions of someone whose values I dislike. I’m going to concern myself with me and people I like. Here’s a quote from Game of Thrones that I embrace:
Tyrion: Let me give you some advice bastard. Never forget what you are. The rest of the world will not. Wear it like armor, and it can never be used to hurt you.

That’s what they wanted to do, and they did, not to mention they actually touched grass. Not half bad by my standards.

So weird. Is YouTube trying to make their own world wide something that isn’t a web to connect people?
Cause that link worked for me.

That’s an awesome skit. I heard a rumor that Jordan Peele was considering making a whole movie about that Wendell character.

10-15 years ago, I wouldn’t have argued. It’s good for nothing and worth the same.

A lot of people hate leftovers, and I think the reason is because they don’t know how to store and reheat them properly. So the food dries out in the fridge from improper storage, or gets soggy/chewy in the microwave from improper heating. Or reheating foods in the microwave that should be reheated on the stove/in the oven/air fryer/etc. Or using the right equipment to reheat but using the wrong settings/time. I could go on and on… The point I’m making is that there’s no reason why leftovers can’t taste just as good as fresh if you know what you’re doing.
Wizard_Pope@lemmy.world 2 months ago
It is almost impossible for leftovers to taste just as good as when fresh though. You can get close but that’s it.
