I don’t know about STEM, but Youtube appears to employ more philosophy PHDs than any dozen universities.

Sadly it seems like the philosophy PhDs getting the real cash from YouTube are the ones that peddle extreme misogyny and other various bigotries, eg lobster man.

A philosopher should know better!

“imagine getting an education about science only to share the gift of knowledge with thousands of people worldwide” -this loser

Beats being a conspiracy theorist. I would be a science communicator any day of the week, over being insane.

Imagine you being so shallow that you think other people’s honest work makes them unworthy…

I think it’s moreso they’re, by way of the terminology chose, point themselves in with the likes of “mom blogs” and other social media hustle trash.

Place the gate where it is deserved, like being the “doctor” that denies health insurance claims or the executive at a big pharma company.
HexesofVexes@lemmy.world 10 months ago
Sounds like the dream to me - no more funding applications!

He’s got a point… I didn’t spend this long in school in order to treat people who know less than I do without contempt.
reaper_cushions@hexbear.net 10 months ago
Sounds like a dream to me, tbh. Imagine becoming, say, a physicist only to end up being a code monkey for IBM waiting for your AI replacement only to wait for you eventual re-hire for less pay because the AI sucks ass.

Or “Tunnel Enthusiast”

being a science communicator is good when you’re on TV, but bad when you’re on the internet
sorry, i don’t make the rules, but i can inform that asking your viewers to watch your channel on a TV will make you legitimate.

I’ve learned more from “STRM influencers” than I had from classroom educators. And it was much more enjoyable and easier to understand.
