I hope they all make a Disco Elysium “sequel”, that was such an awesome game, it should spawn its own genre of gaming.
A Disco Elysium successor studio has been announced for the second time today, meaning there are now 4 companies battling for the title of ZA/UM's true inheritor

Ah, good old left wing groups self destroying and splitting up to irrelevance…

Well, more like “left wing groups being destroyed by greedy capitalists”

Life imitates art or somesuch.

Long before ZA/UM closed, I was certain that we’d never see a new game of that quality again from the same studio.
I’m not confident any of these new teams will pull it off, but I’d rather have four attempts than one.

Oh, yeah. That reminds me. I still haven’t played Disco Elysium yet.

I would personally recommend not purchasing it. Not saying don’t play it, but there’s no one who will profit from it who should.

It’s like ZA/UM exploded and left behind little fragments that are still alive somehow.

I’m excited for the inevitable 2 hour long youtube retrospective breaking these factions down in a few years.

It’s The Death of Superman all over again.

And similarly, all 4 of these are not the real deal. Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for more games like this and I hope they’re good, but I will wait until Kurvitz and Rostov to be at the helm again before getting too excited.

If nothing else though, Argo Tuulik’s blog post for Summer Eternal is worth a read. I love his writing style, and that post is unreasonably funny to me, but you can still tell there is a lot of meaning behind what he says. I suppose things hit hardest when presented in ridiculous over the top metafors.

Wow. This is turning into one of those mythic games that was so so good but will never get a follow-up.
Kolanaki@yiffit.net 1 week ago
They’ll never be able to make Wirral Untethered.

Successor of ZA/UM, but not of Disco Elysium unless Kurvitz and Rostov are also involved.
ArtikBanana@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 week ago
Kurvitz and Rostov have their own studio called Red Info.
Although I haven’t seen anything about what they’re working on.
