Didnt know this was set in Pacific Nortwest! Cool!
inb4_FoundTheVegan@lemmy.world 1 year ago
The advertisements for the game didn’t mention it at all. But as soon as the game starts I was like “Wait is this Whidby Island”?
Which actually kind of backfired on me since for work I had to regularly drive through Whidby late at night. Some of the games monsters were hard not to think about alone at 3 AM. 😂

Good suggestion, already played though, twice in fact 😅

Days gone
TheLightItBurns@lemmy.world 1 year ago
I just finished Days Gone earlier this week, and that game was solid. I wish I played it sooner.

I slept on it for a real real long time, had it in my library for like a year before I got around to it. Ended up getting platinum on it my first playthrough I liked it so much.

I do like me some apocalypse. Thanks 😁

Infamous Second Son and the expansion pack take place in Seattle.
I think Firewatch also takes place in the region, but I can’t remember for sure if it’s there or more mainland/closer to like Montana.

The Long Dark

Ah yeah a classic! Played it a while back, should maybe replay it again :)

Get the dlc, it’s 100% worth it, even the stuff they added for non-dlc users is pretty awesome

Much of The Last of Us 2 takes place in Seattle.
Sunny@slrpnk.net 1 year ago
Love me some Last of us! Literary listening to the OST right now :P

Pacific Drive.
Rai@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 year ago
Pacific Drive is EXCELLENT and the adaptive triggers and haptics on a Dualsense controller work on the PC version. They’re implemented INCREDIBLY, especially the brake pedal. It’s wild.

Well god damn I just noticed. I better go back to bed!

Life is Strange (1 and True Colors are the best in the series IMO)
Sunny@slrpnk.net 1 year ago
I just checked my library and actually seem to have grabbed these for a free a while back, so will be installing these the next few weeks :)
doctorzeromd@sopuli.xyz 1 year ago
I’d start with 1, they’re not chronological but I think it was the best in the series. True Colors is second.

Oxenfree is an adventure game that takes place on an island off the coast of northern Oregon. Good little game that tells its story in about 5 hours.

I don’t have any specific recommendations but I’m from the Pacific Northwest and it’s really interesting to me to see a post like this. Are you from there too?
Sunny@slrpnk.net 1 year ago
Nope not at all haha, from Scandinavia myself. Just very much love the whole Pacific Northwest vibes seen in series like Twin Peaks and such. Really want to make a trip over just to have seen it once.
Paradachshund@lemmy.today 1 year ago
There’s a ton of Scandinavian influence in western Washington state where I’m from. I think you’d feel pretty at home. 🙂

Oregon trail 😂

That’s a journey to the PNW, not in the PNW

Lake
Sunny@slrpnk.net 1 year ago
Looks like a very charming and relaxing game indeed! Ill add it to my wish list :) In case anyone else wants to check it out --> store.steampowered.com/app/1118240/Lake/

It is a chill game. Basically you deliver mail every day to NPCs and have conversations with them. That’s basically it but I really enjoyed it.
son_named_bort@lemmy.world 1 year ago
Tell Me Why is similar to Life is Strange (Dontnod developed both games) and it’s set in southern Alaska. It’s worth checking out.
Sunny@slrpnk.net 1 year ago
Thanks! Will do 🌻

Thimbleweed Park seems to fit your criteria. One of the reviews even compares it to Twin Peaks. It’s a point and click murder mystery adventure game with where you have to switch between 5 characters.
It’s been years since I’ve played but I think the setting was in a fake Northwest Pacific town.
Fun fact, the names in the phone book and the titles/stories of the books in the library came from Kickstarter backers. Some of the books were pretty funny.
Sunny@slrpnk.net 1 year ago
Thanks for the suggestion, its even on GOG :)
StarChip@kbin.social 1 year ago
Great post, thank you! I was born in the PNW and I love those vibes.
Sunny@slrpnk.net 1 year ago
I’m only a little bit jelous :P
mynachmadarch@kbin.social 1 year ago
If you're cool with lower poly graphics, ADACA was recently recommended to me. Haven't tried it yet but looks to be set in Pacific Northwest.
Sunny@slrpnk.net 1 year ago
hell yeah, this looks really cool! thanks for sharing :)
LainTrain@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 year ago
Life is Strange for sure. 1, BtS and True Colours are all good
Sunny@slrpnk.net 1 year ago
Ah nice suggestion! This looks good 👍
