Protagonist has got to be Bayonetta (though it’s based only on the first game). Her character growth in the first game was so good, even if the plot was a little convoluted. Never finished the second one since I didn’t like playing on the Switch and never played the third one. Hope her character is still good though.
Honorable mentions are Kassandra from Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, Elizabeth from Bioshock Infinite, and Stelle from Honkai Star Rail (though this one is mostly for the absolutely ridiculous dialogue options we get to choose).
Favorite female antagonist is hands down GLaDOS. Such a fun, sarcastic, and likeable villain.

It’s been a long time since I’ve upgraded the storage on my PC so I am surprised at how much cheaper SSDs have gotten. The fact that a 4TB WD Black SSD is only $100 more than the HDD one is pretty crazy to me. With that in mind, if OP is willing to spend more money, than the SSD is definitely the way to go.
One thing to note, however, is that Option 1 only has expansions for 3.5" storage (i.e. HDDs). So if OP does decide to go with Option 1, they’ll have to take the 1TB SSD it comes with and replace it with whatever they buy, rather than adding additional storage. Option 2, however, only has m.2 expandable storage so using only SSDs for that computer would be a lot easier.

I guess 2 TB is also relatively small. However, considering that OP only mentioned one specific game their child wanted to play, I think it’s not an unreasonable amount of storage.
If their kid also wants to do things like download/edit movies, graphic arts, or other storage heavy activities then of course they could go for a larger storage. It all depends on their needs and budget.

Option 1 will work for a while. The only thing you will need for the near-ish future is larger storage. Games nowadays take up so much space and 1 TB won’t last long. Would recommend buying a 2-3TB HDD while you’re at Microcenter. They may even be able to install it for you

This doesn’t answer your question but is more of an interesting observation that fits your question. It seems bar for political leaders’ mistakes has gotten so low over the pass few decades.
In the early 90s then VP Dan Quayle misspelled potato (though apparently not 100% his fault) and he was labeled an idiot by the entire country. Bush had a lot of funny Bushisms but most are either weird, poorly worded, malapropisms, or a mix of all three.
Then you have Trump. And while there are definitely people who think he’s an idiot, it doesn’t seem as widespread of a belief as it was for Quayle or Bush. I think part of it is because Trump is far more sensitive to criticism than any president we’ve seen so he’ll go after people who say anything negative about him. But I’m sure there are other reasons as well (ex: politicized news channels, social media, technology etc)

Here’s a full list of crossplay Xbox and PC games. I figure if it’s on the pc, there’s a good chance it could be played on the steam deck as well.

Piggybacking on this to say that if you join groups based around your hobbies you can make good friends that way too. It’s really hard to make friends during class because you’re too focused on schoolwork to be social.
And don’t be discouraged if one group doesn’t work out. I had a tough time making friends my freshman year of college and tried joining an anime club but didn’t like the vibe of that club. My RA pushed me to volunteer for Resident Life and that’s where I made all my closest college friends. Joining clubs, volunteer organizations, or other social groups is a great way to meet similar minded people. People in these groups tend to be friendly so they can attract more people into the group.

Thimbleweed Park seems to fit your criteria. One of the reviews even compares it to Twin Peaks. It’s a point and click murder mystery adventure game with where you have to switch between 5 characters.
It’s been years since I’ve played but I think the setting was in a fake Northwest Pacific town.
Fun fact, the names in the phone book and the titles/stories of the books in the library came from Kickstarter backers. Some of the books were pretty funny.
