Both parties changed. Both parties moved to the left. The GOP didn’t change as much as the Democrats did. The Democrats ran away from the kind of conservatism that gave us the Klan. The Klan found themselves more closely aligned with the unchanging GOP than it did with the left-moving Democrats.

your mistake is treating two right wing parties as if either of them is representative of the left, or like the UMWA, USW, UAW, and IWW that brought us weekends were strictly represented in the 1920s and 30s by the democrats or republicans. 10,000 miners don’t march up a mountain with rifles in hand because their needs are represented on a ballot. Unions, unions suck. I was a teamster and in the IBEW it rewards the losers. Every steward I had was a lame ass failed upward that had no interest for helping us. Walked away and never looked back, unions are bullshit entities to help their leadership keep living lavish lifestyles on the back of the working man.
