I have a friend whose sister was like this, but Eastern European. The man makes all the decisions and women are baby makers and dishwashers.
A couple years after the quick marriage she hates being married, him, but doesn’t want to leave because of her values so she’s incredibly depressed.

I’ve met these women. They aren’t stupid, per se. They don’t want to “think”. They just want to live their simple life, doing whatever their husband or kids want.
They don’t want to think about the world. Just their world.
But think about this for a second.
It’s the conservative mindset: “The world doesn’t affect ME so why should I care? I’m not being oppressed so everything is fine!”

This is it. Conservatives are predominantly people with little to no empathy. That’s why they change their tune the moment things affect them.

In the kindest most agreeing way: No. Shit.

And they can, but they want everyone else to live like that as well

They don’t just want to choose not to think, because then they might have pangs of regret from making that choice. They want others to tell them that women aren’t allowed to think, so that it’s no longer their decision, and so it can’t be their fault if it’s a bad one.

It’s a situation where it’s a combination of “it works for me so this is how it should be for everyone” and “the world would be so much better if everyone acted this way”.
On the surface it makes sense.
But it’s almost passive aggressive oppression.

They’re also brainwashed by the “Christian” patriarchal model. Which is literally “do what your husband tells you” and “don’t listen to outside opinions, just think and do what the church tells you.” The whole stupid thing is engineered to reinforce authoritarianism.

Oh my god, that’s what I want too. I would love to have a garden and a nice kitchen and just concentrate on my little world. I’m just not selfish enough to fully abandon everything that’s not in my little bubble.
The wanting isn’t the problem, doing it with no thought for anyone else is.

The burdens of adult life weigh heavily on me, but I would never give up my freedom of choice to avoid them. I have enough trouble living with myself as it is, without losing that last bit of self-respect.

I would argue that this sort of nonsense DOES make them stupid.
