It made big money. Just like everything with capitalism, it needs endless growth. Once it hit those big heights of earnings, Disney couldn’t help but to cannibalize its own product to attempt to grow the profits. Investor capitalism always leads to enshitification eventually.

This seems desperate.

It’s great. It’s super relaxing and a great way to stay at interesting places on the cheap. You can learn a lot of useful skills doing it as well. Humans lived most of our existence much more in the outdoors than today. I think it’s therapeutic to connect with nature in a more direct way like a lot of camping styles / locations can offer.
- Comment on 34% of the US population doesn't vote. Why do polticalitcians cling to the idea that these voters can't be reached? 2 weeks ago:
I thought you still had to file regardless, even if you aren’t paying anything. I filed when I was in college made under that limit working part time. Got money refunded from my taxes paid because I was below the poverty line.
- Comment on 34% of the US population doesn't vote. Why do polticalitcians cling to the idea that these voters can't be reached? 2 weeks ago:
They need to just put voting in with taxes. Everyone files taxes and if they aren’t at least filing them, then they shouldn’t vote. Setting up in person poling is expensive and takes a ton of volunteering and is a rush to happen over time. The IRS is already solid at record keeping and the infrastructure for data collection is there. We don’t need years of campaigning. Plus, it would kill the horse race aspect of things if the votes were all tallied as they go. I think it would make the whole system easier and would help with any voter verification issues. No one is filing taxes in duplicate to vote more than once. Lol

Well, they are making more so that kills that
- Comment on [deleted] 2 weeks ago:
This is it. Conservatives are predominantly people with little to no empathy. That’s why they change their tune the moment things affect them.

The new one was underwhelming. They should have stopped with the original three.

So stupid. This is only to spy on normal citizens. Criminals can easily use their own E2EE.
- Comment on Bubble Trouble - An AI bubble threatens Silicon Valley, and all of us. 3 weeks ago:
Capitalism is a bubble machine. The stock market is propped up on hollow hype most of the time. This panicky bull shit system breeds instability.

I agree with this. I 100% believe the lurch to the right’s acceleration in America was fueled by social media algorithms.

These fame obsessed twats are a disease. Killing common decency for clout is bull shit.
- Comment on We're cooked, I'm hooked 4 weeks ago:
Yes. Capitalism was in an ideological battle with communism so the government put it thumb on the scale with socialism but gave credit to capitalism for the outcome. Then billionaires spent 75 years indoctrinating, corrupting, and distorting history to claw back their power.
- Comment on We're cooked, I'm hooked 5 weeks ago:
Seriously. This country couldn’t do a better job promoting socialism if it tried. Capitalism to a majority of people under 50 means instability and hardship.
- Comment on Do people really think setting up domestic manufacturing in the USA is easy? 5 weeks ago:
Not to mention any new factories will have drastically fewer jobs than the factories that left due to newer factories being highly automated. The cost of retrofitting existing factories has stopped many companies from upgrading to keep higher their quarterly profits for investors. If they are forced to build, they will invest in money saving long run cost savings like automation.

- Comment on The man with a mind-reading chip in his brain, thanks to Elon Musk 1 month ago:
This is what capitalism does by design. Resources accumulate upward until some entity forcibly redistributes it (government, populous revolution, etc). It is a system that always leads to the detriment of the many for the vanity and power of the few it deems “winners.”
- Comment on How do the Republicans feel about Project 2025 now? 1 month ago:
The older ones are hearing stories of social security being canceled on people like them and they are getting nervous. My vehement Trump supporting co-workers are having trouble backing things he does. The cracks are small and slow but the confidence in their statements of support are getting weaker. I think some support is eroding, but it’s slow. It’s really going to have to affect them more directly for it to fully erode sadly. Though I think it will, the damage the right will inflict in the mean time will change this country for generations.

- Comment on Why do people care about empathy so much when it’s not needed? 2 months ago:
Empathy doesn’t matter TO YOU. Society functions on empathy. It is a skill and one you clearly need to develop. You aren’t a good leader if you don’t have it, you just think you are.
- Comment on is it wrong/selfish to cut contact with my trump-supporting father? 2 months ago:
No. Fuck Trump supporters. Their toxic hate is a detractor worthy of being cut off. If he can’t see how toxic he is, put him in that position and make him choose. Help him understand the truth of project 2025 and then let him decide if being “a man” is more important than being a father.
