It’s not, but think of how many times it’s used compared to the wireless.

They do keep them for some time. Think of how desktop motherboards still come with PS/2 ports even though 99% of mice and keyboards are USB. And with laptops, many new ones still come with a couple of USB A ports and an RJ-45.
However, as with everything in tech, some things have to get phased out at some point. From a manufacturer’s standpoint it’s probably 1) cost saving measures and 2) making space for new things (because you can’t keep all the ports that have been there historically).

I think it’s pretty neat to be able to attach one USB-C/Thunderbolt cable to the laptop and drive 3 external displays, 5-6 USB devices and receive power and networking at the same time. I’m shuddering just trying to think of the mess it would be with separate USB/HDMI/DP cables.
As for when using the laptop on its own… anything that doesn’t have a native USB C is easy to adapt, but even then there are many devices that are wireless and don’t need a USB at all.

Got me wondering for a moment… even if it was real, what would be its practicality? Things like this are rarely done so just because.

There’s a joke in Bulgarian somewhat related to that. What’s commonly referred to as a prune plum we call something that roughly translates to “blue plum”. The joke goes something like this:
– Dad, what’s this?
– It’s a blue plum.
– Why is it red?
– Because it’s green.
Language is weird, but it’s ironic that our use of it makes it so.

Fair point, but the damage is done, the hardware market will take years to recover (if it ever does), not to mention the negative effect on the environment.

I’m not anti-AI, but I’m most definitely anti-corporate greed. I wish there was moderation in all of this. I wish there were regulations instead of letting companies blindly buy hardware before it’s even made based on what they or their competitors might be doing 2 years from now. Fuck that.
With that said, yes, AI is a helpful tool, yes, I’m using it every day at work, and yes, I can do without it no problem - just like I have for many many years.

Yeah. You know how I got a guy for everything? Well, they’re all in New York. My suit guy, my shoe guy, my ticket guy, my club guy. And if I don’t have a guy for something, then I have a guy guy to get me a guy. And oddly enough, his name is Guy.

I see the duality in this but I still think both are valid. When telling the time, there’s usually no point in including the seconds since they’ll have changed before you finish saying the whole thing anyway. In spoken word IMO it makes sense to go from more specific to less specific, and even not include extra parts sometimes (e. g. “today is the 3rd” when it’s expected to know the month and, well, year from context, or “it’s half past” to someone whom you’ve told the time a couple of minutes ago).

In all seriousness, shortening “organically grown” to “organic” is quite stupid since all food is organic, but not all food is organically grown.
