If we’re thinking of the same movie, those “British” accents were so bad that they’ve stuck with me for 20 years.
I saw the movie ONCE

Oh damn. That’s why they’re coming at him harder than Mamdani.
He’s a threat to establishment careers.
- Comment on Groceries are expensive and they're too busy talking about culture war 1 week ago:
That’s why they came up with the culture wars in the first place.
It’s cheaper than fixing a real problem, and much easier to sell.

It’s not like it’s hard to have someone approach him and say “if you don’t do it yourself we’ll do it but we’ll make it hurt” or to threaten someone else with violence. Provided he actually cares if someone else gets hurt.

Blown fuse or just all of them ran like crap/stuttery?

Card holder on your phone case, i guess
Or one of those tiny things that are basically a wallet buy hold like 2-3 cards.
- Comment on Steam Machine pricing announced (from $1049-$1428 USD), reservation lists open 2 months ago:
I think it’s not intended for power users. It’s to bridge the gap between gaming PCs and Consoles.
This should in theory work “out the box” and be able to play often cheaper Steam titles.
It gets people out the walled gardens, which is nice.
- Comment on "Linux? Those guys who like to talk about themselves?" 2 months ago:
Honestly i don’t see much pro windows stuff here. Mainly just hate for it.
But yeah the thought-journey to reach Lemmy from Reddit is a very similar journey to reaching Linux from Windows.

Was it them making themselves Tyler Durden that gave it away?

Yeah i don’t get it. If they billionaires were corrupt but the government wasn’t…
What would the problem be?
- Comment on Conservative values 2 months ago:
The etc is really a “you know what i mean” here.
As in “this cartoon is preaching to the choir”. It doesn’t make people think or do anything butnnod knowingly.
What a waste of even a little creativity.

Schools are a grest lesson in institutional power.
When the institution has the ability to implement whatever it wants on those within it, it will put massive inconveniences on them to save on the smallest inconveniences for itself.
Presumably they thought shorts didn’t look smart enough on the kids, and so implemented a rule without considering (or caring) what effects it had beyond those it intended.

I watched a great video the other day with ai voice, but the creator had a disclaimer at the start saying (in his natural voice) that he thought his accent was too strong for people.
All the comments (barring a few chuds) were people encouraging him to just use his natural voice as it was perfectly understandable and the AI voice was quite jarring in comparison.
So yeah even as an accessibility tool, I think people just find natural voices more trustworthy.

That first one was weighed down like crazy.
Second one was super light on suspension.
I’m assuming the first one was armoured then but why have the principal in the first car?
Maybe they have multiple ones armoured.

Because of the exact same situation.

Kellogg’s theory was that bland foods that were full of fiber would stop people from masturbating.
Because he didn’t approve of that kind of icky nonsense.
So I think the sugar came later.
I think Graham of Graham crackers was working with a similar concept.

This is a sort of “but it’s weird that it happened twice” thing, but I had a friend out researching Orangutans in I think Indonesia and he dropped dead after (supposedly) recovering from a fever.
Probably only a few years younger than your friend.
I’ve not kept up with his research but I suspect the species is almost certainly declining worse than when he was there.
Not sure what I’m saying, but yeah.
Weird that it happened twice.

They’re really upset we keep organising protests about things they don’t want protests about.
Like climate or g-cide.
Much better to sabotage or intimidate them in the organisation phase.
Silly plebs should trust in Keir.
