On the stage of geopolitics, the current US government acts in favor of Russia.

My personal answer is that people, particularly left-of-center folk from other Western countries, want us to feel like it’s our fault. The way they talk about us.

Half-Life 1. It’s literally the only game I’m aware of from after 1985 that I truly think “aged badly.” Doom '93, Quake, and Unreal are still stone cold classics, even Wolf3D is fun in small doses. HL1 is a mess of control oddities and obtuse game design. I dropped it at the end of the train level when it required me to do an absurdly precise jump where getting it was basically luck to finish the level.

Politics, tech, and Star Trek are the only three topics on Lemmy in any significant numbers. The gaming communities are mostly politics about gaming, the porn communities are mostly dead, and forget anything more specific (other than Trek of course.)

I believe the only reason adult games aren’t as popular in Western countries as they are in Japan (and I think elsewhere in Asia?) is because there’s a stereotype that they’re low quality, which came about because of the ESRB (not sure about other countries’ rating systems) basically making it so there was no money in it in a pre-digital download world.
