the reason why planets are formed (ideally) as a sphere is because gravity forms it into that. The sphere is a product of gravity not vise versa because each little mass of substance generates it’s own radial attractive gravitational field.
even if you formed it into a disc, it would be formed back into a sphere.

depends on how motivated you are: the fact that you are going to university compared to a bootcamp, you’re already at an advantage. since universities have career events. if you go to career events, connect with recruiters or engineers, you’re guaranteed an interview spot, so long as you maintain a good educational background for the first few years of employment. Do you know how many CS majors have the same skills if not more than you? Too many to count. The difference is you have friends.
one other note that is completely unrelated, I will mention CS is similar to a lot of other sciences. It’s broad in scope until maybe third or fourth year where you actually apply your knowledge to build (for example) an OS. I’m doing my third year in EE, the things I’ve learned the projects that I’ve done, brought me to a threshold where if I truly wanted to I could build my own assembly language in system verilog for my basys3 FPGA board.
my point is, by the end of your program, you will see it’s all EECE and I will say “it always has been” [insert astronaught meme]. Both are excellent programs, just keep your mind open to options if you think CS is to broad like how physics for me was to broad.
I have several CS majors in my electronics and circuits class because they enjoy working with microcontrollers, IC circuits, and embedded systems over X86 programming. The only things that’s stopping them from switching to EECE is their scholarships, which has only been approved for the CS program. With EECE you have an idea of what you want to do instead of just becoming a “software developer” or “web developer”. Whether that be the processing of rf signals for telecommunications, or using FPGA’s to capture collision events of particles inside a particle accelerator, you have the knowledge and practical experience with said knowledge to apply it to the problem at hand.

rhetorical question: when you’re anti-*, do you go out and do the thing you’re against? Like if you’re anti-smoking, do you go out and smoke a big fat vape? No, you do not. In other terminology, we call that hypocrisy.
I’d say the majority of people’s reasons against AI isn’t just about the environmental impact but the offloading of your cognitive and mental ability, why would someone be anti-ai and still use ai when it directly hinders the ability to cognitively think in the first place.
Anyways, the reason I’m pointing this out, is if you’re anti-ai, the philosophy assumes you don’t use LLM’s in the first place. So when someone asks this (redundant) question of “can you work without chatgpt?” or “if chatgpt disappeared, would you still be able to get through the day?” I’ve already been doing it.
I can get through my day without using chatGPT. It’s a tool for the briefest of my circumstances (mostly for tedious work), and I could do my day without using it and without hindering my performance.

well, generally these can range from a few hundred dollars to several thousand or 10s of thousands of dollars. The ones we use in my university are about the 10s of thousands range.

I mean were talking about skin and tissue it will bend and stretch when it comes in contact to pressure. Also energy depends on mass not just velocity/speed. It would need to have a large enough energy while being precise enough to not be distributed over a surface to penetrate and damage tissue.

but yea the naming convention of “imaginary numbers” is pretty bad, we did the same thing for negative numbers (we called it imaginary) when people couldn’t comprehend of a negative quantity.
negative numbers are defined from a conservative system, basically a gain/loss relationship: if I have 2 apples and I give away 1 to a friend, I have 1 apple left, that loss – that apple I gave to a friend – is the negative quantity. For imaginary numbers, we don’t really have a way to comprehend an imaginary quantity; what does it mean that I have sqrt(-1) apples

I guess you didn’t read my last part, humans are deterministic by nature; they draw trends based on patterns. if you wanted to win with one ship just place that ship in a place that is completely counterintuitive to what they expect. Having one ship does have strategic implications, that it narrows the possibility of being hit. Combine that with counterintuitive placement of said ship and your opponent is as good a player as a fish.
so does probability play a role in battleship? yes, it removes the statistical likeliness of being hit (ignoring the premise of humans drawing generalizations by pattern recognition). It is drastically less likely to hit one ship than 5, all you need to do is place that one ship in a position that is counterintuitive to the trend to remove any biases of your opponent who has played several games already.

what are you going on about, that probability depends on the number of turns you get? last I checked it, no it does not depend on that.
the argument I’m trying to make is it’s statistically less likely to hit that 5 point battleship (probability is 5%) compared to the 17 points in ships spread abitrarily (probability is 17℅). IT DOES NOT DEPEND ON THE NUMBER OF TURNS IT TAKES TO SINK ALL 5 BATTLESHIP’S. The probability does depend after the first event has occurred (where you’ve hit one of those pieces). Whether you get a hit on your first turn or the first hit in 30 turns, it does not matter. probability does not depend on the number of turns it takes.
technically speaking the probability calculated at the beginning is when the number of trials (theoretically) approach to infinity. The 1/6 probability to role a six sided die on a number (for example, lets say 6) is after doing trial and error of rolling a 6. Now whether you get the 6 on the first try or the 100th try these are approximations of the 1/6 th probability. As you do more and more trials it does eventually converge to the 1/6 th probability.
So yes, technically speaking someone could hit the standalone stacked battleship in one try, probability and statistics doesn’t concern that. So if that concerns you, psychologically manipulate your openent by putting your battleship in the first row.

I’ll add to this, it’s not just about finding the initial probability since the probability for event B given A, or event C given A and B, these would increase the liklihood of being found. I couldn’t tell you exactly what the probability is but say for example event B given A, it would be 1/n for n being the number of legal spaces around A. So if the ship was in the middle of the board it would have the smallest probability of being found but if you’re along a wall, there’s only 3 possible legal spaces so the probability increases to 33.3℅, and if A was aandwitched between two walls, the probability of B is 50℅.
so if there’s a moral to this story, assert dominance and put all your pieces in the center.

hold on there, it actually does have strategic advantage from a statistical perspective.
the basic notion is that for a probability of event A to occur it is proportional to the area of the event; so if larger area, larger probability, smaller area, smaller probability.
if we take that idea and apply the same basis to battleship you could roughly approximate the probability as the sum of each probability of each point which is 0℅ if we span the area to infinity.
of course this is not true for any game as you can’t span to an infinite scale, but you could say that the probability of hitting a point is 1℅ since battleship is a 10 x 10 grid so the probability is just 1/(10 * 10) = 0.01. Then the probability gets more complicated since you are being asked what is the probability of the second, third, fourth, etc… point being hit given that initial probability. the probability grows dependent on the first point being hit.
