Reminds me of that woman in Germany who jumped into the polar bear enclosure at the Berlin zoo to swim with the bears.

So glad that I looked it up.
- Comment on What are your thoughts on people who say hate speech is free speech? 1 month ago:
People often mistake freedom of speach / expression to mean they can say anything they want without reprocutions while ignoring laws that already exist to set restrictions (perjury, libel/slander, obscenity, etc).
The rights of one person stops when it infringes on the rights of another. If a person’s speach or actions is determined to be producing harm then there should be consequences.
Freedom of speach does not mean freedom from being responsible for that speach.

- Comment on How do I actually find a job that isn't retail? 4 months ago:
This right here.
Annecdotal, but I have never worked for a company nor in a team that did not have a fair share of people that took the work experience route instead of the school route. It took them longer to get to the jobs fresh college grads were applying for and they had to work some shit jobs on the way, but that real-world experience gave them a perspective that college never could and it was a valued resource that provided immense benefits to the teams they worked with.

My sister and her husband pass out cotton candy and cocktails for Halloween. They are the favorite house on many people’s trick-or-treat route. They’ve done it for so long that kids that grew up in the area are grown and excited to bring their own children to their house.

Don’t listen to the perverts. A sloppy toppy is an ice cream, typically served in a cone, with extra syrup (caramel, chocolate, etc) drizzled on top. The excess results in the syrup dripping off, making it “sloppy” if you aren’t fast enough to lick it all off.
So next time you are at an ice cream parlour ask for a sloppy toppy.

- Comment on Why do some car lovers oppose bike infrastructure, when more bikes would mean fewer cars on the road? 6 months ago:
In short, it’s selfish myopothy. “I don’t see how this will immediately and directly benefit me so I oppose it and, now that I have made my uninformed knee-jerk decision, I refuse to listen to opposing arguments that might cause me to admit that I was ever wrong about anything.”
You might recognize this behavior in other aspects of society. It is not isolated to transportation infrastructure.

- Comment on Why don't compasses have just two Cardinal directions (North, East, -North, -East)? 8 months ago:
Just guessing here, but I would think it’s for for clarity and brevity. West and South are shorter to say and distinct enough to avoid being easily misheard causing somebody to go in the opposite direction than intended.

Make it a Hallmark Christmas movie!
Clark goes back to his rural childhood farm town for the holidays. Holly, a big city CIA assassin on her first assignment, comes to town under the guise of being a photographer there for their big Christmas festival. Between Clark’s all of the work he does to help setup for the festival and the seemingly persistent attention he revcieves from his highschool sweetheart, Lana (who looks remarkably similar to Holly in build, complexion and hair color) and her daughter Sarah, Holly struggles to find opportunities to kill this enemy of the state so she stages a honey trap to lure him to his demise. With each failed assassination attempt the honey trap becomes less of an act and she finds herself falling in love with him. Eventually Holly breaks down and confesses that she’s actually there to commit an illegal murder for the government, but can’t because her love for Clark has made her rethink her career path of state sanctioned murdering people for money. She runs off into the snow, tears running down her face. At the festival Clark is delivering fresh pies to the charity fund raiser both when he hears the news. Holly’s car was pulled from a frozen lake with a body inside. While damage from the wreck makes identification difficult, they are certain it Holly is dead. A forlorn and heartbroken the crowd parts and he sees Holly! They rush into each other’s arms. “How?” Clark asks. “I couldn’t just leave, they would come after me. The only way out was to fake my death.” Holly answers between kisses. “Then who was that in your car?” “Don’t worry about it”, she says as they kiss. Credits roll as Sarah wonders the crowd searching for her missing mother.
