The US has the 17th highest deaths per capita and covid was the 3rd largest killer in 2020, behind cancer and heart disease.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/COVID-19_pandemic_in_the_United_States
Not per capita they had the highest number of deaths and highest number of confirmed cases (and experts think that actual cases are much higher due to a lack of mass testing and a shortage of tests)

I love elite: dangerous and there’s still so much I haven’t done but it’s all as deep as a puddle, after 300 hours it started to get boring. (makes sense) I planned to take a break and come back to it but then they tried to add p2w microtransactions (they went back on it from backlash) and now the company behind it has replaced the ceo who cared about the game with a marketing guy and that’s made me lose interest in it entirely.

Ai IS cool. LLMs and ai art and most forms of generative ai ISN’T cool.
One of my favourite examples of ai being capable of doing good when it isn’t being controlled by a trillion dollar bubble is alpha fold

I’m guessing you can taste the impurities missing from distilled water. It’s probably closer to being able to tell it’s not quite right then an actual taste, but that’s close enough to be able to call it taste.

It’s linear in the same way a sony/ubisoft open world is where there is a single main path but there is a massive quanitity of side content as well. The main difference between bg3 and AAA open worlds is that the side content is better than the average ubisoft side content and the main path can take different routes in different playthroughs.

It’s definetly not for everyone but space station 14 can be a lot of fun.

From my experience with word, ignore spelling mistake is a lie, it always starts complaining again eventually (and changing spelling from us to uk almost never works)

Place names are cheating. Almost all of them come from old/other languages that have very little resemblance to modern english.
- Comment on Steam Hardware [new Steam Controller, Steam Machine, and VR headset Steam Frame, coming in 2026] 3 months ago:
The frame being a standalone linux headset is huge, hopefully this does to vr what the deck did to pancake.
(I know vr works on linux already but it's a pain)
- Comment on Sliced off the tip of my thumb, what are some good one handed games? 3 months ago:
If you can still use a mouse well, grand strategy games can be a lot of fun. Despite all the (deserved) criticism they get, paradox games are a lot of fun. (and their modern ones even feel like a full game without having to buy any dlc) They can be a bit difficult to keep up with without a keyboard though so play on lower speeds.
If you are more concious about who you give your money to, endless legend 2 is a 4x published by hooded horse that is a lot of fun (think civ but fantasy) and since it is turn based it is a lot easier to play with just a mouse.

Students not being able to read an analogue clock being a reason may seem silly, but being able to read one shouldn't be a requirement to be able to do well in exams, especially UK exams where students have enough to deal with already.

- Comment on Microsoft starts rolling out Gaming Copilot on Windows 11 PCs 5 months ago:
Microsoft rolled out an AI chatbot for minecraft a few weeks ago and it is completely useless (unless you are asking about the marketplace). I feel like you won't even need to be playing a niche game for it to hallucinate.

"Sorry we couldn't get away with it" vibes
The publisher is paradox isn't it? They've done this with nearly all of their recent games.
The only difference is that the games they published are left to die after the backlash and the games developed in house continue to be developed but with a slightly less invasive dlc policy for a few months.

- Comment on Borderlands 4 Launches To Mostly Negative Steam Reviews Over Performance Issues And Crashing 5 months ago:
As someone looking in from the outside, the problem is with the way UE5 markets itself, (people using UE5 can correct me). The appeal of UE5 is that it does all the boring stuff for you. For example, instead of buying a good light system off of your engine's marketplace or making your own you can just use lumen. Any system marketed as something you can "just use" is going to get implemented wrong because its appeal is supposed to be that it is low effort.
^(no shame to devs that do think like this, game development is hard and having solutions like this just gives more time to make the game you want)^
- Comment on Borderlands 4 Launches To Mostly Negative Steam Reviews Over Performance Issues And Crashing 5 months ago:
The only ue5 game I have played with good performance is satisfactory and that's because good performance is necessary for a game like that (so they put a lot of effort into it)

I don't understand why people have issues with shows like this, it's not like ads on annoying news websites, people want to watch them, I'm not watching but I think it's quite exciting waiting for a trailer you want to see (silksong for example) compared to seeing it in a news article afterwards.

Wasn't a lot of the usual names from the 3d mario studio's last game (dk) missing from the credits? I heard someone say it's probably because they were working on a 3d mario in parallel... hopefully
