If you are serving it to the public, a good VPS would be better.
Chances are that your internet is not as reliable as something like Hetzner’s.

The most similar and FOSS one is Revolt (revolt.chat).

They will be available on other instances. The modlog won’t disappear.
- Comment on [deleted] 2 weeks ago:
You don’t have much choice in this case. Some instances will either not receive your delete request or just ignore it. Some instances might not even understand the deletion request. You can try contacting the admin of each instance, but I’m not sure whether you’d like to spend weeks contacting the admins of thousands of instances.

Ask the Lemmy devs. Create an issue in the Lemmy github repo.

Interesting. First time seeing a Lemmy instance being subscription based.
- Comment on alternatives to lemm.ee? 2 weeks ago:
It’s not an alternative to lemm.ee and also the dev shits on federation.
And I still can’t believe that they still haven’t fucking implemented search yet. The search is literally Google search with a site:discuit.org constraint.

If you really won’t do much other than gaming, check Bazzite and Nobara out. You can turn your PC into a gaming console with Bazzite btw.

- Comment on How do some communities get like 50 members minutes after its creation? 1 month ago:
That is Lemmy Federate at work. Since Lemmy does not automatically federate the communities to other instances, someone from your instance needs to subscribe to that community for your instance to start receiving new content for that community. Lemmy Federate basically does that for registered instances. The community’s instance probably had the auto add feature enabled in Lemmy Federate, which is why it got 50 members in a few minutes of its creation.
