It’s called “compartmentalization” and it’s a healthy coping mechanism, or so I tell myself.
- Comment on Mama mia 1 day ago:
I think one username is a little different from an entire community but you’re obviously welcome to feel differently, lmao.
- Comment on Mama mia 2 days ago:
Naw, because then you have that obnoxious /trees /marijuanaenthusiasts dynamic that makes everyone look like a ten year old.
- Comment on How was trying to get a job different THEN vs NOW 1 week ago:
C’mon man. I was good at shooting people, running fast, and taking orders. That means I’m management material for an office for an insurance firm.
- Comment on Che Mangione 1 week ago:
Who gives a fuck? (Yes, I’m attacking OP here too)
- Comment on Do you consider Taylor Swift to be of the working class and why? 1 week ago:
I think OP is looking for people to write out their personal definitions.
- Comment on What are examples of things that would get you banned on reddit, but is okay on most major instances of Lemmy? 1 week ago:
I once crossposted porn and got my ten+ year account permanently suspended. Why? Someone reported the content as revenge porn.
Mind you, I didn’t upload it, but merely shared it from /porn to /blowjobs or whatever it was. I have no idea if all participants consented to the upload or not.
Entire account gone, all appeals within the month of allowed appeals automatically denied.
- Comment on Interesting. It's a constant reminder 1 week ago:
I’d put good money on your take.
- Comment on Why don’t more people start profit-sharing companies or co-ops? 1 week ago:
Don’t forget money. Can’t just decide to fart out a co-op.
- Comment on Charities of Employees from "non-profit" I was going to donate too 2 weeks ago:
We’re already making the (existing) distinction between cook/chef though.
There’s no apparent need for a “cook”/cook/chef distinction.
- Comment on Do you want the murderer of the UnitHealthcare CEO prosecuted? 2 weeks ago:
Never trust a jury to do the right thing.
- Comment on Do you want the murderer of the UnitHealthcare CEO prosecuted? 2 weeks ago:
For me it’s a classic Trolley Problem.
Catching and prosecuting this guy will make healthcare barons feel that much safer and more likely to kill more Americans.
A random murder is evil. A murder that ends an evil life while saving thousands of random lives is not.
Don’t fall in love with your precious texts scribbled by long dead legislators.
- Comment on NYPD confirms suspect had a British accent 2 weeks ago:
It’s all fun and games until the guy gets caught because we helped the NYPD find him via the wide reach of memes eventually finding someone who recognizes him and never saw their press release.
- Comment on what a moment to live 2 weeks ago:
Sounds like socialism either way, and my wise elected leaders said that’s bad.
- Comment on Why do Americans always presume that everyone speaks English 2 weeks ago:
They don’t, but enough do that it’s worth noting.

For someone like me, no.

Counter space, cabinet space.
- Comment on The darkness of hell 3 weeks ago:
I suspect we’re dealing with a difference in how you two are defining “excess.”
“A lot more than normal” vs “a quantity sufficient to be toxic/medically harmful.”
- Comment on Valve has created a Steam Bluesky account 4 weeks ago:
Reddit is big tech these days.
- Comment on In the US, is this actually the moment past the point of no return? 4 weeks ago:
-
It’s unlikely.
-
That’s hard to impossible to answer in the moment but easier for historians to determine in retrospect.

People need to spread the word about good, safe partners better.
But jealousy exists, so everyone else has to gamble with their lives for a date/orgasm.
- Comment on The doctor then had to go and treat that lawyer for being a burn victim 1 month ago:
Sarcasm is pretty much by definition lying to insult someone or something.
Best case scenario the judge holds you in contempt of court. Worst case you go to prison for perjury.

Is it possible this young man has poor judgement and risk analysis when faced with deciding between momentary joy at the expense of future harm?

Fiduciary duties cut both ways.
- Comment on The doctor then had to go and treat that lawyer for being a burn victim 1 month ago:
Funny and technically perjury.
- Comment on Serious statement: I don't understand the argument that not voting for Harris was the morally correct thing to do, because of Gaza. Why does anyone believe this? 1 month ago:
You should make a Twitter account
First off all, hell no. You can’t honestly be against the fascism that kills babies in Gaza while advocating for people to sign up for a platform run by Elon Musk. At least not if you’ve thought about it for five seconds with five brain cells, anyway.
You will understand very quickly if you leave the echo chamber and see what the word genocide really means. Only a monster can justify it.
Who’s justifying the genocide in Gaza? Not OP. Not the people who voted for Harris over Trump.
Show your work. How did you come to that conclusion? My feeling is Russian propaganda, but I hope you disprove that suspicion.
- Comment on Why do different ethnicities/races look different? 1 month ago:
Put differently (so as not to imply high melanin is fundamentally superior):
Someone mutated to have lower melanin levels in their skin, which was useful to absorb more sunlight for Vitamin D production further north, and that mutation spread.
