I run it on ultra at 1440p with RT on high and FSR performance upscaling. I get 60 fps consistently with these settings, no drops. I have a 9900X/7900 XT so I imagine you’ll be able to get quite a bit more out of it.
- Comment on [Digital Foundry] Oblivion Remastered PC: Impressive Remastering, Dire Performance Problems 4 weeks ago:
I had to tweak quite a bit but it’s running at a stable 60 fps now. I wouldn’t say I’m looking past it, just enjoying our in spite of the performance issues.

Ah right, democracy didn’t immediately solve problems so we should murder all political opposition and install a one party dictatorship where I’m conveniently in charge of everything.
Sounds like sometime that totally benefits “the people”.

Literally saw some loser bragging about “his right to not vote” the other day. Every single one of these people is a fucking tool.

It’s isn’t anyone’s “job” to care about this. It’s called being a decent human being with a modicum of respect for others. So such of this raging greedy narcissism.

When I tried it, testing was on the same version of Nvidia drivers as stable so it didn’t solve my problem. It was possible to manually backport them, but it wasn’t straightforward to do.

It’s definitely a good thing if you’re interested and knowledgeable enough to build what you want. I was just arguing it’s not the best choice for a casual user because a lot things they’ll want won’t work out of the box.
Even updating to the next stable Debian version requires editing system files and running the command line.
Drivers can matter quite a bit if for example you’re on an Nvidia card and the Debian drivers are 2 years old. It happened to me and caused dlss to not work in some games.
I run a Debian server and it’s amazing for that.

Man I used to think Lovecraftian lore was so cool until I found out that it’s all an allegory for virulent white supremacy.

- Comment on GOG seems to be considering paid membership option 1 month ago:
You don’t need to manage the exe files. Just ideal heroic launcher. You can access and install your whole GOG library from there, and you can configure each game with different versions of wine, if you need to.
You can even sync the game saves as well, although last time I tried the save sync was a bit clunky.

Debian is not a good choice for beginners. It’s extremely bare bones compared to Ubuntu or Mint.
Drivers on Debian stable are also heavily outdated

There’s absolutely no way most mods on reddit are women. Leave it to the terminally online crowd to blame women for everything.

Don’t care, I’d rather live under the neolib European governments any day than a Russian shithole. It’s not even a difficult choice. It’s not like there’s some leftist utopia as an alternative.

There is a microwave technique for drying weed if you want to smoke it quickly. It will taste extremely green though. There’s nothing you can do to replace a good cure.

They also created TypeScript which is a huge improvement over js imo. And even with C# you can use Mono so you really aren’t locked into MS automatically.
Plus, they made VS Code free. I hate MS but they do make solid tools for developers.

It’s so much better than it used to be though. There’s been a lot of real progress and there’s more interest than ever in creating a viable Linux consumer-grade desktop among foss developers and even corporations.
I’ll grant you it’s definitely not there yet for non-techies. But I do think we’ll get there eventually and I wouldn’t have said that 5 years ago.
