Is your refrigerator running?
Actually yes, it’s about halfway down the block screaming something about election interference.

Is your refrigerator running?
Actually yes, it’s about halfway down the block screaming something about election interference.
Wake the fuck up, samurai. We’ve got a freezer to defrost.
Also, isn’t Bartmoss’s corpse in a fridge?
Yes. Despite being the guy who brought down the entire internet, the discovery of his body was a giant ‘meh’ for some fucking reason. I dunno… I mean if we discovered the actual identity of Jack the Ripper it would probably make more news than that.
Anyway the conspiracy theory that Bush was responsible for 9/11 clearly doesn’t hold water because look how clueless he is at the moment he’s informed of the ✈️
Responsible in the same way TSA would be responsible for a hijacking today. They had enough information to be able to stop it, but failed to do so. Anything beyond that gives superhuman competence (which is what conspiracy theories want, a world where someone is in control, even if they’re in control for evil)
Nah he’s just clueless all the time
And why would he need to be interrupted in the middle of a very important kindergarten reading session to be informed of something that he already knew about?
Anyway I’m in the camp of believing that these were locally-planned controlled demolitions, to cover up trillion dollar losses in some financial blah blah, but I still think that particular man up there posing as president had no idea about any of it until it happened.
He already forgot the conspiracy.
Not like all those grinning idiot fools at the wh correspondents dinner…
Second attack? Out of the loop, is it still the current date as the password or…?
Some European fridge manufactures made commercial fridges that allowed businesses to remotely monitor and adjust temps. Problem is that they are connected to the internet with no security what-so ever. Why they have to be connected to the internet is just my guess but it could be because they go through the manufacturers servers first before allowing the end user to access like alot of smart devices.
Well someone figured out how to find these devices on the web and take control. Problem is now that these fridges is that their software is embedded into the control board so the only way to patch them is replacing or physically modifying the board.
Well, I already figured all of that. “find these devices on the web” is actually taking a piece of text on the login page and pasting it into a search engine. I was wondering if it’s still the same “vulnerability” of the password being the current date because this was in news a month or so ago. I then edited my comment to say that I am under impression that it is, in fact, still the same vulnerability.
SAVE THE HOT POCKETS!!!

I mean technically attacking people’s food supplies is super fucked. But doing it by fucking with internet connected refrigerators has got to be a massive blaring alarm that we are no longer fit for survival.

When I was a kid I saw a batman movie where the joker was in some high-tech, high security prison, and all it took was a simple hacker to unlock his cell and let him out.
Even then I knew, one manual deadbolt is all it would have taken to prevent this…

There is a reason why redundancies are critical.

These corporations that produce this technotrash are the ones not fit for survival. A fridge doesn’t fucking need a computer it in at all, let alone one connected to the internet.

I get the sentiment and the insecure connectivity is pure incompetence, but commercial refrigeration is not the same as consumer refrigeration, with much more complex controls required to deal with managing large energy consumption, irregular and frequent access, variable amount of goods being held, and usually mandatory persisted logging and automatic alarms, sometime being sent centrally and 24 hourly to meet strict food regulations.

Looking at it coldly going by the selection pressure of the market, they almost certainly are more fit for survival than a company that isn’t finding an excuse to spy on you (even more) and sell your data.
