As a lame ass who doesn’t drink, is there a use case for those tiny liquor bottles beyond irresponsibly serving barely functional alcoholics?
love to see it

You can keep them in your pockets for when you start to get the shakes

I worked at a gas station for 1/2 yrs (which was selling these) and only alcoholics bought them … how did I know they were alcoholics ? Because I’d see them buying the same 2/3 bottles every day or they’d take the toilet keys and one of those small vodka bottles with them and then buy another one when bringing back the key.

Few reasons, actually. If they are teens, they are easy to hide, and generally only need a couple to get wasted. If they are adults… They are cheap, and it is easier to work up enough money for a small bottle to stop the DT’s, then work on getting money for getting properly drunk. Also a lot of places are only allowed to sell the small bottles of full strength liquor, and often alcoholics have been banned from most of the places that are licensed to sell all alcohol, or they have long since lost their driver’s license, and the only place that sells in walking distance is a gas station who can only sell half strength liquor, or these small bottles of full strength.

My wife’s family used to do a Christmas party game where someone prepared a ball of cling wrap with small gifts inside: lottery scratch-offs, cash, candy, trinkets, and liquor nips. We’d sit in a circle and one person would frantically try to unravel the ball while the next person would roll and reroll a pair of dice to try to get doubles. When the dice matched, the ball moved to the next person.

Yeah stuff like that, stocking stuffers, and trying something new are the main legitimate uses. Also if you’re craving a cocktail you know you probably won’t want much of it can be a good way to have a small amount of the ingredient.
I use the mini wine bottles for cooking on days I don’t want more than a glass of wine with dinner (particularly for red wine which my wife doesn’t drink)

You can put them in your minibar and charge premium for it in your hotel.

In a perfect world where alcohol is given the proper regulations befitting a drug that ruins your life and the lives of those around you they’d be a good way to ration out a resonable amount of the harder liquors to people.

Is trash in public parks normal? I’ve never seen more than like one wine bottle on the ground or a candy wrapper, and even that’s quite rare.
crank0271@lemmy.world 3 days ago
In the US at least, yes, it’s very normal. The oddity would be a park or spot in nature without a bunch of trash.
TrickDacy@lemmy.world 3 days ago
I have been to countries that make the US look trashless by comparison though. You should see some of the roadsides I saw. You could not even see the ground for the massive sea of plastic bottles.

Where I’m from it’s not normal for most parks, but very normal for the parks that are convenient for the homeless to live in

I’m going on my own nature walk, with blackjack and hookers. In fact, forget the nature walk.
