I used to get emails like this, my favorite was an email that said Trump named me personally as someone who he wanted to receive an autographed hat.. in exchange for a sizeable donation of course.

I think you might be underestimating just how dumb the MAGA base really is. As a group they are more likely to have never gone to college, dropped out of high school, and have a below average IQ. Normal critical thinking skills and common sense is asking too much, these people have a permanent case of poo brain.

It sounds like OP didn't willingly sign up, they probably harvested those emails from wherever they could and for those they thought they could easily influence.
