I was like 8~9, and late; I had zero interest in learning whatsoever, and was incredibly stubborn. But I was a fan of the Star Wars, to the point where I figured out how the VHS machine worked so I could watch Luke fight Vader in slow motion. When I got into KOTOR for the first time, I quickly realized that I had to learn to read subtitles in order to understand player dialog options and what the aliens were saying, and that was a significant motivation for me. Plus, the subtitles for English voiced lines, especially from the player’s party during the intro level and Taris let me make quick associations between written and spoken words, which helped me catch up a lot.
