Caution! Yellow fat emulsion was prepared on machines that can contain traces of actual cheese!
Recession indicator, what do you call this dish?

The blood pressure roller coaster. It climbs and climbs and then plummets when you die.

these were great, when the pound of ground beef or chuck was less than a buck. but at 6+ bucks? i’d be making burgers, or at least a meatloaf, not this. we don’t waste our venison on this stuff, either.
but this box in particular is called ‘desperation’, on the part of general mills to try halt what must be a massive sales slump due to the fucked-up beef markets.

“real cheese” eh? sure
adjectivenoun@lemmy.world 2 weeks ago
Depending on your definition of “real,” they’re probably correct. It was real cheese, before it was dehydrated, powdered, and mixed with an emulsifier (probably sodium citrate) so it would reconstitute itself into a cheese sauce. I’ve become a little more sympathetic to this sort of thing since I bought of pouch a sodium citrate off the interwebs and started emulsifying things I didn’t think could be emulsified, like an entire wheel of brie.

Mac n cheese with hot dogs. What’s the big deal?
devedeset@lemmy.zip 2 weeks ago
The US is currently run by the world’s most notorious pedophile whose actions directly made beef more expensive to the point that the Hamburger Helper brand is now basically becoming the Hot Dog Helper brand

Good 'ol Mac n Weenies. Wouldn’t buy it prepackaged like this though, use a big bag of noodles and make a cheese or white sauce.
