Huh? Global population is still growing. (More slowly now, but the slope is still strongly positive.) We haven’t hit peak human population yet and won’t any time soon. That means if the population of the US declines, we can just import more USians.

Google says methane stays in the atmosphere for less than 12 years. Treating this as markedly different from CO2 seems disingenuous.

I found this: www.snaq.ai/…/cooled-rice-blood-sugar-research
My guess is that cooling the rice causes some of the starches to polymerize into longer chains that are harder for your body to digest, which lowers the glycemic index of the food.
I also prefer very short grained rice, which has slightly higher protein to starch ratio and reheats better. This stuff is often sold as “sushi rice.” If you’re on a budget, Calrose medium grain is fine. (If you’re not on a budget, tamanishiki koshihikari is my favorite bougie short grain rice.)

Is this one of those, “if farmers gave their cows kelp tablets once per day to reduce methane farts, it would reduce it by 50%” deals? I find it hard to believe raising cattle produces more GHG emissions than a similar weight pig.

Depending on your definition of “real,” they’re probably correct. It was real cheese, before it was dehydrated, powdered, and mixed with an emulsifier (probably sodium citrate) so it would reconstitute itself into a cheese sauce. I’ve become a little more sympathetic to this sort of thing since I bought of pouch a sodium citrate off the interwebs and started emulsifying things I didn’t think could be emulsified, like an entire wheel of brie.

We did the Throne Room/Ending Credits theme from Star Wars played by our symphonic band. It goes hard.

No.
It should be from -3 to 10. (Probably more than 10 actually.)

And furthermore, he’s on record having stated that he truly believes gun deaths are an acceptable trade off to have a society with virtually unfettered access to guns. It’s one thing to say that on a podcast, but he really stuck his neck out to support the idea.
- Comment on Capitalism is all about using state power to protect capital by force 2 weeks ago:
So capitalism but every company of a certain size operates as a not for profit coop? (Is that still capitalism?) I’m being serious here. I would like more collective ownership of capital but I don’t know what it looks like and I don’t trust the government to do it centrally. We’d need to nail down details like how big a company has to grow before it must distribute and how the original owners or investors are compensated for that loss of control. We wouldn’t want a system where no one tries to do anything cool because it would ultimately be taken away as soon as it succeeded.
- Comment on Capitalism is all about using state power to protect capital by force 2 weeks ago:
So market capitalism but all businesses are publicly traded or coops?
- Comment on Capitalism is all about using state power to protect capital by force 2 weeks ago:
How do they own it?
- Comment on Capitalism is all about using state power to protect capital by force 2 weeks ago:
A socialist and capitalist mixed system is what most countries already have. The social democracy serves people their rights and essential services and the capitalist market drives the “optional” part of the economy. You can, and should, argue that we leave too much up to the private sector, but don’t pretend that hybrid system is impossible. We already built it.
- Comment on Capitalism is all about using state power to protect capital by force 2 weeks ago:
Which would suggest workers owning the means of production is compatible with market capitalism. Just heavily incentive coops and other collective ownership schemes.

Check out some Doom Eternal speedruns. (I guess 100% speedruns so you aren’t seeing people glitching through the game.) That game is actually extremely fast-paced. Good players are swapping through all fifty of their weapons every 4 seconds. Come to think of it, I wonder if the need for gore kills is a consequence of me sucking. (I think the chainsaw for ammo is unavoidable, though.)

I didn’t like the mandatory finishing moves either, and to be honest, I didn’t finish the game, but I got a lot further than DOOM 2016 and I thought the gunplay felt really snappy and satisfying in the way the OG games did. The levels were diverse and I actually liked the platforming puzzles, but I’m also the kind of guy who played surf maps in CounterStrike and strafejump races in Quake, so I’m predisposed to that sort of thing.
Oh well. They made a thing and it’s not for everyone. I wonder if you’d like The Dark Age. I haven’t played it yet.

What didn’t you like about Doom Eternal? That one was widely praised.

It really depends. There are great examples like DOTA2 and Path of Exile, and miserable examples, like every crappy gacha game.
Riot is kinda in the middle for me. Shame they nuked 2XKO after not telling anyone about it or catering to the people they neglected to tell about it.
