“Old” call of duty is based from WWII, which were made in the early 2000s inspired by Medal of Honor while “New” call of duty is the fictionalized takes within the FPS genre (basically the ones you recognize today). Modern Warfare (the 2007 one) is the title that departed from the WWII genre while World at War tackled at both theaters of WWII (the Pacific and European).
Old call of duty was brutal WW2 games. New call of duty is ADHD shootouts in a skate park with pink guns and wallrunning.

Old.
The new ones, I wouldn’t even call military or war games. They’re like Overwatch with things based on real life objects. Basically it’s about how good you are at performing a gymnastics routine in a firefight. Slides, spins, dives, rolls, have a pretty outfit, performing in this cute battle theme arena. Nothing really at all to do with being called for any sort of military duty.

I’m personally a big fan of movement penalties in shooters, that prevent people from breaking their momentum in a flash, jumping or dropping instantly, etc. They feel slightly frustrating to control, but it comes back in how easy it is to aim at someone.
It’s really frustrating when you’ve outflanked someone, and have a strong gun against them, but their A/D crouching game is on point.

Yep. I think it explains the popularity of HLL, reforger, and the increasing amount of those titles. Keyboard dexterity gets you no where if you can’t think or communicate. Like in real life, the loser is more often outsmarted than anything else.
