I couldn’t see the cat in the picture at first and was like “There’s no way you’re fitting that dog in that carrier…” 😅️

Leaving it out and about so they can get used to it works wonders when it’s finally vet time. Only when they’re young though. Our old cats know what’s up.

Yep, if the crate is only used for the vet, then the cat is gonna recognize that the crate means going to a place they don’t like. When I had my Willow I always left the crate around and open, made getting ready to the vet when I needed easy peasy.
tho the sweet boy was fine even at the vet, super friendly. I did not deserve him.

I adopted my cat Orion a couple weeks ago. My little fella grew up in his shelter from a baby kitten, and lived in the shelter for over a year. I was organizing my apartment earlier this week and took the carrier out. He climbed in and used his paw to close the door somewhat. He misses his old home :'(

He just wants company. Adopt a second kitten!

Are there any box shaped carriers?
Viking_Hippie@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 weeks ago
Depending on how loosely you define “box shaped”, arguably almost ALL carriers would fit the bill 🤷🏻
Teasing aside, maybe this will do?
brave_lemmywinks@lemmy.world 2 weeks ago
Yeah that’s basically it. Wonder of it tricks them.

They have cardboard box carriers.
pega_sus@lemmy.world 2 weeks ago
Also a trick is to use a small dog sized carrier that they can stand up in

ours has a second door so we can let the cats poke their heads out (and i can give them scritches) while we drive. we haven’t heard them whine on the drive to the vet in years

One goes to the vet one does not
JamesBoeing737MAX@sopuli.xyz 2 weeks ago
We didn’t have a cat crate. We just took our cat in pairs when one would drive and one would hold the her.
And she always screamed the whole drive

Cupid has judged your meme and found it wanting.

I don’t always go to the vet, but when I do I chill in my travel box.
