Yeah you’re wrong. I could barely make it through a few episodes of SGU, but STA is much better.

I found Discovery the same way, it’s the only trek series I couldn’t make it through.
Picard suffered from bad writing unfortunately. Season 3 cashed in on nostalgia and I appreciate it for that, but the first 2 seasons were very meh.
Starfleet academy is great though, IF you’re ok with a show targeted to young adults. If you’re not ok with that, the episodes will be very hit and miss. The most recent episode was fantastic, once you get through the 3 minute long sex scene it opened with. Even that does serve a purpose though to show the bond that’s developed between two chars.

Which I find kinda surprising, since I would call SNW fairly “woke” if you actually pay attention to the show. Maybe it’s just because it’s a male captain set in the TOS era, and it’s a more traditional trek show?
- Comment on Server upgrades complete! The Lemmy Club is now hosted in Canada 🇨🇦! - plus, we're moving away from Cloudflare. 1 day ago:
Ouch, shots fired 😂. Congrats on the move though! ♥️
If you’re on ovh, make sure you’ve enabled their monitoring. Otherwise if your server goes down they won’t do sweet fuck all outside of business hours.
We’re moving off cloudflare pretty soon too, I’m just sorting out some last issues with our new Canadian cdn.

Very well might be, but the end product is nothing like RHEL. I know they host more Linux than Windows on Azure.
- Comment on 3 days ago:
I don’t know what you mean by Linux spin. Are you thinking of hyperv?
- Comment on 3 days ago:
Huh? RHEL isn’t a cloud. Azure is Microsoft’s version of aws / gcp

I like the one where you stick the word anal in front of the names of RVs.

I think this is the most I’ve despised an enemy since Kai Wynn. I did not expect an episode like that from this show.
- Comment on How would you describe that post sneeze smell? 4 days ago:
I don’t smell anything after I sneeze… You should probably check with a doctor to make sure you don’t have an infection.

This isn’t because windows sucks, this is all the recoil from AI. MS invested over $13b in openai and holds about a quarter of the company.
Windows doesn’t make enough money for Microsoft to seriously care about it, their baby now Azure.

Imagine a server is a shopping mall. Now imagine you’ve got 20 years worth of black Friday traffic trying to get to it.
The server might be able to handle the requests that get to it, but the sheer volume of traffic makes it impossible to get in or out effectively.

Block the communities, or use piefed since it has many more filtering options.

Honestly if you’re upon renewables and support them you can skip most of the video, just watch the last 20 mins where he gets angry about politics

Bending spoons in particular is known for this, they did it with Evernote too. They buy a company, fire everyone, coast on its income as long as they can, then repeat.

Get one of the velvet fabric based ones instead. The disposable sticky ones are a scam to get you to keep buying more.

I was at a gaming studio that closed down in late 2024, most of the people I’ve talked to since have left games and work in general tech.

At that point I’d just disable every extension, test, then turn them on one at a time.

Can you try an incognito window to rule out the plugins? I run block (as do many others) and it’s never caused an issue for me, so may be a specific rule you have. Also try dumping your cache just to be sure.
I don’t use LW so no specific knowledge here, these are just general troubleshooting steps.

Check your error console under developer tools. Do you have any ad block or filtering plugins installed?

That was a really fun episode, I’m enjoying this show way more than I expected.

- Comment on How come streaming or satelite don't have a playlist option? I got Dish and its annoying where I can't just tack on a bunch of movies or series and just let them play in an order I choose? 4 weeks ago:
Because it costs them money to stream, so it’s in their interest to make sure you don’t just queue up a bunch of stuff and fall asleep.

- Comment on Is there a practical reason data centers have to sprawl outward instead of upward? 2 months ago:
You started off with an ad hominem attack calling it armchair nonsense, that the weight argument has no merit. I’m pointing out i have actual experience in this area. If you hadn’t been an asshole with your initial reply I wouldn’t have bothered replying, instead here we are.
Everything is a money problem when you get down to it far enough. Why don’t we have mars colonies? Money. Why don’t cars fly? Money. Why doesn’t everyone live in super tall towers that touch the atmosphere? Money. Sure let’s just ignore all the engineering considerations and reduce it down to the absolute basic explanation of “money” so that nobody in this thread will learn anything.
Why don’t we have super tall datacenters? It’s not worth the money to sustain that level of weight in a new tower, and definitely not worth it to overhaul an existing tower.
It’s pointless to call out money as the limit, that’s completely obvious.
Anyways I’m over this thread, byeeeee.
- Comment on Is there a practical reason data centers have to sprawl outward instead of upward? 2 months ago:
I’ve built out 7 datacenters across 3 countries in my career. I’ve gotten a panicked call from Bell Canada when they realized our deployment density in an older facility, then had to work with them to provide weights of all of our cabinets. Sure though, all armchair nonsense. What’s your background?
