FWIW we’ve seen some odd federation issues too. Posts on remote instances not making it to us, but nothing in the logs to indicate a problem.
Seemed to start around the time 0.19.7 came out, but that migsht be a red herring. (we haven’t upgraded yet)

I don’t think so, but you could switch to “oh snap”

Here in BC you can call 811 to talk to a nurse and get advice on things like this, maybe your state has something similar?

Is that the wrong link? This seems totally unrelated to Pokemon in boxes, and is more about multi console character storage systems.

Gotta wait until palworld has made a bucket of money for Nintendo to point at, claim damages, then try to take.

Yeah you’re right, I totally read it backwards. 🤦
- Comment on Why do boomers hate squirrels so much? 2 months ago:
Only about 300 years, from your own link you kindly provided:
When European settlers first arrived in North America, they brought with them a number of animals that were not native to the continent. One of these animals was the eastern gray squirrel (Sciurus carolinensis), which was introduced to England in the early 1600s as a curiosity.
The eastern gray squirrel quickly became popular in England, where it was kept as a pet and admired for its agility and intelligence. In the late 1700s, a group of eastern gray squirrels was introduced to New York City’s Central Park, where they quickly established a population.
Over the next few decades, the eastern gray squirrel spread rapidly across North America, aided by its adaptability and ability to thrive in a variety of habitats. Today, the eastern gray squirrel is one of the most common squirrels in North America, and it can be found in every state except for Alaska and Hawaii.

Squirrels are an invasive species, they’re not native to North America. They chew wires and mess with stuff.
Birds are pretty, sound nice, and eat bugs. They also poop on everyone’s stuff, but somehow it’s good luck if you get shit on.

You know how many words in any language, are borrowed from other languages right? You just used a Japanese word when you said emoji.

CT scans don’t use magnets.
If I need an mri, they would cut it out. If I’m unconscious they won’t use an mri, it’s too risky (what if I had shrapnel from a war wound).

Why not? How often can you buy another sense?
Today I mostly forget it’s there and occasionally am surprised when I reach for a running microwave, or am near high voltage lines. It’s good for party tricks - I rub my hands together to pretend to make static electricity, then pick up coins. People then try to do it and obviously fail.

You’re not leaving any of it there, it’s all for personal use. You don’t need to declare it, it’s not “goods”.
- Comment on Why is DNS often joked about in the I.T. Industry? 3 months ago:
100% of the internet depends on it, and 90% of technical people can’t be bothered to learn how it works and understand it. Partly because they only touch it once every 5 years. They get what they need done but don’t understand why it worked, so it ends up feeling like black magic to them.

Yeah #2 is a big one. I’ve had to deal with a user who got hit by a supply chain attack, and doing forensics on their box was invaluable.
If they’d wiped their desktop as soon as it got compromised, we’d have nothing to go off of. I’d expect that user to be in some pretty serious trouble tbh for violating our security policy by not notifying us immediately.

Gold bond medicated itch powder, the menthol variety.
Slap it down there, especially after a shower, and you’ll have a good time with a lot less pain.

I read about this woman years ago and found it fascinating, so it’s great to see an update with the science that’s coming out of the discovery. Really cool stuff, now we just need to find better drugs to treat it.
