There is no context in which having that should be street legal.
Hey jackass, this is why trucks with large tires are supposed to have mud flaps.

It is not. Wheels are not supposed to stick out past the fenders, for one, and mud flaps are mandatory for vehicles past a certain height.
Fredselfish@lemmy.world 2 weeks ago
Texas it used to be illegal for trucks with dual tires or tires like that not to have mud falps. I once got pulled over for it.
But today it’s not. I don’t what happen but suddenly it not illegal in Texas anymore and it should still be because of shit like that.
SippyCup@lemmy.world 2 weeks ago
Your mileage may very. I’ve checked ordinances in the 4 states I frequently drive in and didn’t see any of that mentioned for any of them.
Zedd_Prophecy@lemmy.world 2 weeks ago
I’m Tennessee this is almost standard with every lifted truck. 3 out of 5 vehicles are lifted trucks. I drive a Miata.
oopsgodisdeadmybad@lemmy.zip 2 weeks ago
Exactly. Lifted trucks is part of what I actually meant.
Large consumer tricks should be banned as well.
I would even add high performance cars all the way down to mustang level.
If it’s too big or too fast, get it off the road.

Outa my way liberal! I gotta get home and eat my 72oz steak covered in cheese that my fat bitch wife microwave me after I just worked 16 hours at the ball crushing factory!
helpImTrappedOnline@lemmy.world 3 weeks ago
Oh hey be reasonable now, those jackasses wouldn’t go anywhere near a ball crushing factory in fear of the association with balls turning them gay.
CompactFlax@discuss.tchncs.de 3 weeks ago
It’s awful for the steering geometry to have the wheels offset so far from where they’re supposed to be. So not only does it eat tyres and ball joints, it also handles worse than it already would.
RIP your windshield.
SaveTheTuaHawk@lemmy.ca 3 weeks ago
The wider wheels put huge leverage forces on the suspension joints and hubs they were never designed for. With time and a few bumps, the front wheels will fall off.
All tolerated because some fucking idiot culture.
isVeryLoud@lemmy.ca 2 weeks ago
Imagine being such a zero that you’re willing to ruin your truck, your wallet, and what little driving characteristics it had for, uh, idk, beats me.
just2look@lemmy.zip 3 weeks ago
Mud flaps generally aren’t legally required. However multiple states don’t allow tires to be that far outside of the wheel well.
SaveTheTuaHawk@lemmy.ca 3 weeks ago
Most countries do not allow tires to extend past the fender for this exact reason.
XeroxCool@lemmy.world 3 weeks ago
Wheel coverings are required with a maximum exposure limit. The body usually does the job. Look to the 2022 Jag F-type and F-pace for little spats in the upper rear of the rear wheel arch for hidden compliancy.
just2look@lemmy.zip 3 weeks ago
I knew there were rules for that with commercial vehicles, I wasn’t sure about private. And it gets even more complicated since every state is different.

Sucks about your window, bro, but this truck has never even seen mud, and that was a rock, bro, not mud. - that guy probably

Bruh. If you got them on dash cam, you can 100% get them to pay. Sorry about your windshield!
nullspace@lemmy.world 2 weeks ago
Probably works for Big Windshield.

Trucks just look better with mudflaps and fenders too
mbp@slrpnk.net 3 weeks ago
Is that the Sanford exit? Those trucks are done a dozen there
NeatNit@discuss.tchncs.de 3 weeks ago
If no one’s gonna mention it, I will: love the Pikachu plush! my mom also has some plishies on her windshield, it always gives a cozy feeling 😊
huppakee@lemmy.world 3 weeks ago
Non-american here, is this legal in the US??
Onomatopoeia@lemmy.cafe 3 weeks ago
No, it isn’t.
Cops just don’t enforce it
Kolanaki@pawb.social 3 weeks ago
It depends on the state; there is no federal laws about mudflaps on non-commercial vehicles.
SaveTheTuaHawk@lemmy.ca 3 weeks ago
Those wheels also grab pedestrians and cyclists and pull them under the vehicle at intersections. Record numbers of pedestrians getting killed but we decided to prioritize toxic masculinity.
sanitation@lemmy.today 3 weeks ago
Street legal sure. You can’t import a bud but you can do this shit

Not in US, not in Canada, but police stopped working in 2020. They figured out the get paid just as much.
