Nope, in this market (Canada), you can get a fully automated e-bike that can either be easily tweaked to go far beyond 30 km/h, or is sold as “not for road use” and can hit sometimes upwards of 60 km/h, especially those e-scooters. I’ve seen a LOT of those scooters pass me on my gas moped while I was going max speed.

On that note, I’ve always been confused why it’s accepted and recommended to ride motorcycles with what are essentially full suits of armour, complete with CE pads and anti-abrasive materials, but for e-bikes? Nah, a thin foam helmet and some spandex will do, despite a lot of them being capable of similar speeds in similar conditions.

If you know anything about car security, you’ll know that chip and key immobilizers are miles apart from smart fob authentication, and that any vehicle from any manufacturer using a smart fob is vulnerable to a wireless relay attack.
I think someone is being paid to not understand the difference here. I think Hyundai cheaping out on immobilizer chips is unacceptable, but I also blame NHTSA for not requiring it in the FMVSS, Canada had none of the US’ problems with Hyundai / Kia thefts because the CMVSS requires an immobilizer since 2007.

I love how they never address the fact that the punishment is way heavier for a cyclist than it is for a driver. Nice distraction.

In case of armed road rage, remember that your car is a weapon. It’s self-defense if a gun is drawn on you.

That’s really funny and really sad at the same time.
Most Canadians know all US states, and I’m fairly certain I can match 95% of state postal abbreviations to their corresponding state (save for the ones starting with M, good luck lol). I’d like to see Americans try to put the huge landmass that is Manitoba on a map 😄
I don’t think I’ve ever been confused between what’s Mexico and what’s USA, and I feel like uneducated racist people may just be going off of the name, like Nevada / Arizona being spanish names and New Mexico referencing Mexico.

I think it’s just whatever asset they could grab.
It’s very clearly meant to be penis, xxx, crotch, naked woman, probably links to porn and is designed that way to avoid some sort of filter on the ad network to detect pornographic or pornography-referencing advertising.
If that’s the case, well played. Clever.

I believe it has to be declared on the packing manifest, but it relies on the expeditor being truthful. That’s my understanding of it.
I don’t think it’s about the place of manufacture, but rather the place of origin. A lot of items are manufactured all over the place.
- Comment on [deleted] 7 months ago:
Any time an eligible item crosses the US / Canada border, a 25% tariff is applied. This is how the US does it, so this is what the Canadian government is copying.
This is terrible for auto manufacturing, where various parts cross the border multiple times between raw materials, loose parts, assembled parts and assembled vehicle. Every time those parts or materials cross either border, it gets tariffed 25%.
I believe if your item comes from the US, lands in another country, gets re-labeled and then enters Canada, it won’t be tariffed, but don’t quote me on that.
