Probably the most memorable, in no particular order: Dark Souls, Prey, Dishonored, The Witcher 3, Cyberpunk 2077

My top three would be Rimworld, Zelda: Breath of the Wild, and Metroid Prime.
Honorable mentions to Outer Wilds, Hollow Knight, Windwaker, Subnautica… There are so many great games out there that it’s hard to pick a top three!

space@lemmy.dbzer0.com 8 months ago
Not yet, but I played the first one. It was pretty good. I also enjoyed Quantum Break.

I’m sure I could come up with a better list of I really thought about it, but (in this order) Terraria, Minecraft, and Portal 2. Honorable mentions to Deep Rock Galactic and The Binding of Isaac Rebirth.

Thinking about the question I realized that my favorite game of all time (Secret of Mana) is actually not the best game I have ever played. The game I have played for the most hours and shaped my life more than any other (World of Warcraft) is also not the best game I have ever played. The game peaking at number 2 for most enjoyment and most time played for me is Diablo2. For reference the best game I ever played probably has to be Minecraft, coming in at 3rd :)
kromem@lemmy.world 8 months ago
Chrono Trigger GTA V
And then like a dozen others vying for 3rd. Maybe OoT just because I feel like I can’t not have a Zelda in my top 3.
Mercury1337@lemmy.world 8 months ago
Max Payne, UFO Enemy unknown, PUBG

Jump Ultimate Stars for Nintendo DS.
Xenoblade Chronicles for Wii (I have yet to play the Switch version).
Ace Attorney Trilogy/ Hotel Dusk for Nintendo DS.
Kinda cheating in the third one, but I am not even sure these are my favorites, they are the ones I have played the most that is for sure (maybe honorable mention to Toy Story 2 for PS1 lol).

Xenoblade Chronicles for Wii (I have yet to play the Switch version).
It’s as awesome a game as it was back then, and the QoL changes are definitely welcome. The new chapter… Exists, I guess. It’s fun to play, and it’s nice to get more Melia, but the story really feels like filler content.
I was so disappointed by XC2’s direction that it mostly made me want to replay the first one again. I had started replaying Wii version, then they announced DE, so I waited and played that one instead.
Nowadays, it would be very hard for me to choose between XC1 and 3 for my favourite though. 3 hits right in the feels in so many places, and its main cast is so good.

I keep reading about Xenoblade 2 being the weaker of the trilogy, very discouraging to keep me in the franchise 😅
But it should pay off as I see no complaints with X3, as you just pointed out.

The first two could be in either order.

Hmm tough question: Xcom enemy unknown/within, dragon age origins/expansions, darkest dungeon. Those I’ve beaten and come back to multiple times and they are still fun.
Runners up include Pokémon lg, Zelda lttp, bg3, slay the spire, mass effect, civ, and stellaris

It’s hard to think about a 2nd and 3rd game, but the number 1 game that has influenced my life is WoW. As bad as it is nowadays, and has been for a while I still can’t really imagine not playing this game in some way. I’ve had an active subscription for probably 95% of the time for the last 14 years, and the release of classic only ignited my love for this version of WoW. I even stuck to Era when servers transitioned to TBC because I wanted to play classic so badly I put up with playing on a server that had like 2 guilds total in the beginning.
Though I started playing FF14 a couple months ago, and while some issues are similar to retail it seems a lot more like it has old-school communities. Maybe I’ll get used to the (imo inferior) PvE design, which is the main reason I don’t see it as my new main game yet.
Other than that maybe Portal (1 & 2), H1Z1 or og MW2 I guess, just for how fondly I look back to the time when I played them.

Skyrim
Xcom 2
Honorable mentions: Mass Effect trilogy & Dragon Age series

I have lost so much time to XCOM loading. I cannot WAIT for an XCOM 3 with this in mind. Will gladly lose another 250 hours of my life.
Astaroth@lemm.ee 8 months ago
I used to have to wait 5~10 minutes on the loading screens before missions before when I didn’t have an SSD and only 8gb RAM

Portal 2, Half-Life: Alyx, and Dishonored
