Date went way better than expected. He thought I seemed overstimulated so he took me to a quiet place and we sat and listened to music. I didn’t even have to say a word! I want to be at least half the person he is. He’s so in tune. I hope I can be to him how he is to me.
Thanks all for the nice comments. I love this place. You all are wonderful people and I love coming on here and getting a glimpse into your lives!! 💕🥰

That sounds great
tombruzzo@aussie.zone 2 weeks ago
That’s really great to hear. After it seemed like you were really reluctant with the last couple of dates it seems like this guy is really clicking for you
LowExperience2368@aussie.zone 2 weeks ago
Took the words right out of my mouth :)

Some cunt must be on a meth bender cos I can hear bass and it hasn’t stopped since last night. It isn’t even a clean bass, it’s reverberating and it sounds shit. My ears have had enough.
Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone 2 weeks ago
The natural enemy of the crack head is sirens.
Just throwing it out there.
CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 2 weeks ago
I think they’re torturing someone in there. Why else would you have the bass so high with the garage door down, playing the same shitty music over and over?
Bottom_racer@aussie.zone 2 weeks ago
lol.
Almost the same as the natural deterrent of loitering kids is classical music.
I remember the maccas in camberwell did that and it worked lol.

I have a friend from high school, he has a wife, 3 kids, just bought a nice place to live. I have a shitload of respect for this guy. Probably the person I respect the most.
He was recently promoted and messaged me because he had a bit of a crisis adjusting to the new role.
I sent him a 5ish minute voice message, and spent the evening helping him get a hang of how to manage the new role.
It’s an incredible feeling when you can help someone that you really respect, despite your own failings.
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 2 weeks ago
you see your own failings the most because you are in your own mind and have high expectations and ideals
but others see you for what you do and say and may have a more realistic and compassionate view
so take it as the vote of confidence and acknowledgement of your skills that is , you’ve got this 👍🙂🥰

“In the end, it was the Sunday afternoons he couldn’t cope with, and that terrible listlessness which starts to set in at about 2:55, when you know that you’ve had all the baths you can usefully have that day, that however hard you stare at any given paragraph in the papers you will never actually read it, or use the revolutionary new pruning technique it describes, and that as you stare at the clock the hands will move relentlessly on to four o’clock, and you will enter the long dark teatime of the soul.”
Ah Douglas Adams, how I miss you.

I finally got around to hanging a couple of pictures and installing my video doorbell. It’s only taken 9 months.
One of the pictures is a print of an Australian landscape painting. It’s nice, but doesn’t really suit my house decor, so I’ve hung it in the garage.

Second date today. Kind of shitting myself but what’s the worst that can happen?
imoldgreeeg@aussie.zone 2 weeks ago
Well, shitting yourself would be up there I reckon. So might as well chill 😁
Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone 2 weeks ago
You realise maybe you don’t have chemistry.
You take the confidence you earned from going through with this, and use it to keep moving forward if you feel ready.
RustyRaven@aussie.zone 2 weeks ago
The worst that can happen is he kidnaps you and keeps you in a dungeon for years as a sex slave. Although that’s also technically a risk you face at any time, it’s not really date specific.
The worst that is likely to happen is you collect a new bad date story you’ll be able to entertain people with for years.
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 2 weeks ago
what’s the best that could happen 🙂

I leave the back door open and the screen door locked.
Got woken up at 3am by Gibson screaming. Freaked me out. She saw another cat lol

Still find it crazy what you’re finding at your beach.
I’m starting to wonder if the reason I’m not finding much at my one is because it’s right just inside the heads. You do see a whole lot of cool shells at the Lonny lighthouse / rockpools but that’s a marine park so big no no I think.
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 2 weeks ago
It seems I’m the only one who goes to my beach to beachcomb, others come to walk their dog, take photos of birds, to fish or collect crabs and mussels. It’s not a classic sandy beach where people sunbathe or swim, they come to play and do things, and where I walk is far past the popular part and into the wilderness

Melbcat has been eating a little and peed but still seems a bit flat and sort of groans and sighs as if in discomfort. Getting her seen.
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 2 weeks ago
seems recovery is real but slow
so many gentle hugs to you both

Greensborough Plaza is a shithole with nothing to draw you there, but there is a banh mi place pretending to be a regular sandwich shop and a Chinese food place pretending to be a regular takeaway. Get that bag if it works
phant@lemmy.world 2 weeks ago
Totally haha. We hit up the ramen place before the cinema sometimes. It’s good. And we now bring earplugs to the hoyts 😆 coz it’s fucken loud az.

We were there for this dinosaur event they had on and they were just letting people in. There were no signs to nit touch the animatronic dinosaur displays and they couldn’t stop people anyway because there were only two girls working there and they were flat out preparing wooden dinosaur cutouts to paint.
And by the time you were done you just had this wet painted plywood dinosaur on a stand, paint pots, and a wet paintbrush to carry around with you. The kids had fun but there was no thought beyond just getting people in the door

RustyRaven@aussie.zone 2 weeks ago
In Ballarat it is very, very still. Which is quite rare here, so I’m enjoying it while it lasts.
Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone 2 weeks ago
Real slim chance but does anyone have an iPhone 12 or 13 that’s sitting on ios version 17.0 they want to sell?
melbaboutown@aussie.zone 2 weeks ago
Are you also finding the recent updates giving you a lot of grief?
Mine is like 6 years old but unfortunately I have updated to the crap versions and still use it for everything

I’m trying out a couple of new yoghurt cultures. One is just an average yoghurt. The other I got because it’s a bit sharper and the flavour is what I’m after, but the texture is a bit weird. It’s almost slimy. If I didn’t know better I’d think it had some sort of thickner added. I’ll have to see if it grows on me once I get used to it, but I don’t feel like I’d want to eat it as is. Maybe just in cooking or diluted into a salad dressing.

imoldgreeeg@aussie.zone 2 weeks ago
I have been using the mild culture from green living Aust for years (it lasts basically forever in the freezer). Sometimes I’d like it more tangy but I often use yoghurt in cooking or in place of cream and this one is really versatile.
I add a quarter cup of milk powder when I remember and it makes it nice and thick too.
RustyRaven@aussie.zone 2 weeks ago
I think I’ve used that one before. I bought a different one from cheesemaking.com.au and the main one I bought is great, this slimy one is one I’m trying out because it is both a stronger taste (which I thought would be good some of the time) and it has a lot of different bacteria in it, 10 varieties instead of the normal 2-4. Plus when they arrived I was given two other varieties as samples, I’ve tried 3 out of the 4 now.
I strain the yoghurt to make it thicker, sometimes closer to soft cheese than yoghurt. I might try straining some of this batch a bit more and see what that does to the texture too.

Saw the black cat so went out to pat him and pour some food. But yeah, due to seeing his tiny bald spots and seeing him scratch his head I showered completely with sulfur soap and Selsun Gold afterwards.
Mental health, contamination
Genuinely anxiously freaking out at the possibility of having brought ringworm into my carpeted house. Particularly right now while so busy and stressed, my own immune system is so down and Melbcat is so unwell. Particularly as disinfectant and bleach is often highly stinky and she’s asthmatic. Particularly as I remove my shoes and wash my hands when I enter the house but my guests don’t. 😬 Did I mention it’s highly infectious and can last in carpet for two years? …OCD spiral.
Also if it is - how the hell would I even be able to treat him?
RustyRaven@aussie.zone 2 weeks ago
It sounds like you washed well, so even if it is ringworm you shouldn’t have anything to worry about. But more likely it is just bald spots. Miss Meow had a lot of those and very thin hair when I got her, just because of malnutrition and general poor health.
Seagoon_@aussie.zone 2 weeks ago
same with Allie, she was thin with very poor fur when I got her,
also, Bill, who is in perfect health, has bald spots from where he and Ted fight and Ted gets a bite in, he scabs over then the fur falls out
melbaboutown@aussie.zone 2 weeks ago
God I hope so. I don’t know if I can handle any more physical labour or mental load

Girls weekend was a great success!! My voice is hoarse from so much talking along… and 4 hours of singing at Piano Bar last night. The only tears were ones of feeling uplifted and supported (at 3:30am after a lot of alcohol).
