Similarly…
Someone commented in a thread that they were from Minnesota and they thought ketchup was too spicy.
I was ready to crucify the heretic.

Sadly, as someone from Minnesota, it is both a joke and a reality far more often than I’d like. Personally, I enjoy really spicy things — like at a Thai restaurant, I always order “Thai hot” not whatever number thing they use — and usually get big hot sauce packs (such as the Hot Ones lineup) for Christmas gifts, which is great. I am very much the outlier, though.
You have to remember, though, that these are people that shun hot sauce but then eat horrible foods like Lutefisk, so I wouldn’t necessarily take their opinion seriously.
This does seem to be changing in the last maybe decade or two as more immigrants from different backgrounds come to the state. Believe it or not, last I checked, Minnesota has the largest Hmong and Somali populations in the country, so there’s SOOO much more food and flavors around to try and enjoy than there was when I was a kid.

Pretty sure my mother in law cooks like this. Well almost, not enough ketchup for her.
