Adding context, the nearly-perfect-marks midterm was a take-home exam. Not that chatbots aren’t a big problem in schools right now, but this same thing would’ve happened 15 years ago.
- Comment on Hideo Kojima ‘really sad’ about PlayStation killing discs, ‘frightened’ for future of ownership 6 days ago:
I haven’t bought a console in over a decade, but I was under the impression the most/all “physical” copies these days were little more then digital download codes on discs. How many actually hold the whole game, enough to qualify as “owning” it?
- Comment on Valve’s Steam Controller stock shortage will last until next year after fans massively exceeded expectations 2 weeks ago:
Worth noting that’s not the date you should check back, more of a “by this date” suggestion. Reservations are still being served regularly, so keep an eye out for that email.
- Comment on Valve’s Steam Controller stock shortage will last until next year after fans massively exceeded expectations 2 weeks ago:
A queue system really undercuts any scalper that would consider the controller a good target. There will of course be people without patience that could payout, but the larger market will just wait until their turn to order comes up. Seems like a bad investment for someone that relies on FOMO to profit.

Same for all Indies bought up by larger companies. At best they seem to get broken up and dispersed in the company. Most just seem to be ballast used to pad stock value, then tossed when it’s the least bit beneficial to their owners.

Somehow better, but still horrifying.

Downvoted because nothing in the comic supports either comment.

Disregarding the tasteless “joke”, every person is different, so why would we presume the corpse is any of them?

Maybe? Someone better acquainted with the show/manga would be better able to say with any certainty, but my thought was that this was the result of multiple takes to get the most accurate attempts.

Why slop? Using a service contributing excessive harm to the very thing he’s spent his life promoting. Not very appropriate.
- Comment on Steam Controller: Reservations open May 8th - Steam News 2 months ago:
Instead of having people frantically trying to beat robo-scalpers through a system (predictably) crashing through surge of demand, people would get into the queue and scalpers would have had no incentive to exploit FOMO that wouldn’t exist. There probably would’ve still been a tech issues at the start, but it would’ve smoothed out on it’s own instead of having people wonder for a week if they’d be able to even submit an order, hoping they don’t miss the next announcement (which I almost did).

The was absolutely a queue.
Source: I was in it.
- Comment on My quest to get a steam controller has failed 2 months ago:
People got errors during the check out,
And? With the queue, people were able to continue submitting orders as things calmed down. There will always be a rush to be first. The queue handles it better by not outright denying those who didn’t make it in right away. This also reduces the FOMO that funds scalpers’ abuse of the system.
As for account age, it doesn’t really matter when it is set at - any limitation reduces the number of bots able to spam real users out of a purchase. Admittedly, that only really helps if there’s also a limit on number of units bought, which I don’t think was implemented this time, either, for whatever reason.

They did a hardware launch perfectly for the Deck - Account of minimum age needed, and a queue to buy as devices became available. Why the hell did they go with the old, shit version that only serves scalpers that use bots to scoop up every item?

All these concern trolling articles about Valve’s “monopoly”. We never get this shit about Youtube, Windows, local ISPs and other utilities, etc. Super subtle, guys.

I can fault them for choosing to push the button and for just accepting that the result is “pretty” without rebuke. For defending the end result against those of us criticizing it. The companies may be responsible for the pushed adoption of this ridiculousness, but people are the ones happily going along with it and actively defending it.

People that issue death threats for shit like this are absolute trash excuses of humans. That said, DF is trying to double-dip here, sychopantically hyping a product unreservedly and then acting like they still have the credibility to act like objective critics. What a joke.

That’s unfortunately a lot of people going by the amount of “fixed” (ie slopppified) art and photos I see going around online.
- Comment on Developers Were Left in the Dark About DLSS 5 3 months ago:
That said, theres been so much focus on how it looks. IMO, its completely overblown, especially when all of this needs to be manually configued on a game-by-game basis. Devs can tweak the settings to their own preferences, and make things more or less extreme.
It’s wild that every defense of this garbage is “Just have devs spend even more time finetuning for this.” Yes, let’s double (or more) the workload of workers that are already overworked and crunched beyond reason, all for a “feature” that looks like garbage in it’s showcase demo and is so resource intensive that very few users will be able to utilize it, if they even want to.
