Oh yeah, this is the user that went into every thread about the campaign attack in Ohio saying she deserved it. I doubt any appeals to reason will land with this person.

At the expense of immigrants that aren’t obscenely wealthy? How does that make anything better? There are endless other ways to call out this garbage. Pick one that doesn’t needlessly harm those that are already hurting.

It’s not ironic, it’s basic math. Based on just the amount the post said he gained, the campaign funding is 1% of what he’d be paying in the tax, even less because that’s not his entire net worth.
That’s the math you have to consider with all of these counter-campaigns - the money they’re spending will always be less than what they expect to pay, otherwise they’d just pay the tax. That’s always the driving force, regardless of what their smear campaigns say.

Steve Mould has a great video digging into why things look white: www.youtube.com/watch?v=gug67f1_8jM
Probably not strictly translatable to all other colors, but a helpful illustration of how color is how objects intact with light, not inherent properties of the object itself.

The style of the text is a big giveaway to me. Generated text has gotten a lot better (ie usually legible), but it’s pretty much always that same block letters that aren’t quite perfect enough to be a typeface, but also not designed well enough to be made by hand.
The general format of this one is also fits closely to a lot of other generated posters I’ve seen (some examples: lemmy.ca/…/2d35f3bf-bc05-4971-8c8d-9e69fe857bde.p…). It’s hard to describe, but hopefully you can see what we’re talking about.

I would love for a big franchise or studio to just drop their next big hit some day with zero leadup. HL3 would be perfect for it - just pop it up on the steam homepage and see what happens.

Adding context, the nearly-perfect-marks midterm was a take-home exam. Not that chatbots aren’t a big problem in schools right now, but this same thing would’ve happened 15 years ago.

I haven’t bought a console in over a decade, but I was under the impression the most/all “physical” copies these days were little more then digital download codes on discs. How many actually hold the whole game, enough to qualify as “owning” it?
- Comment on Valve’s Steam Controller stock shortage will last until next year after fans massively exceeded expectations 2 months ago:
Worth noting that’s not the date you should check back, more of a “by this date” suggestion. Reservations are still being served regularly, so keep an eye out for that email.
- Comment on Valve’s Steam Controller stock shortage will last until next year after fans massively exceeded expectations 2 months ago:
A queue system really undercuts any scalper that would consider the controller a good target. There will of course be people without patience that could payout, but the larger market will just wait until their turn to order comes up. Seems like a bad investment for someone that relies on FOMO to profit.

Same for all Indies bought up by larger companies. At best they seem to get broken up and dispersed in the company. Most just seem to be ballast used to pad stock value, then tossed when it’s the least bit beneficial to their owners.
