Better to use the udm14 for a custom search engine than to route your traffic through a separate party.

I love the combat. It reminds me of Psi-Ops: The Mindgate Conspiracy, which I had a blast playing back in the day.

Can’t even bother to make propaganda without sloppifying it. This is a real low point for humanity.

The style of the text is a big giveaway to me. Generated text has gotten a lot better (ie usually legible), but it’s pretty much always that same block letters that aren’t quite perfect enough to be a typeface, but also not designed well enough to be made by hand.
The general format of this one is also fits closely to a lot of other generated posters I’ve seen (some examples: lemmy.ca/…/2d35f3bf-bc05-4971-8c8d-9e69fe857bde.p…). It’s hard to describe, but hopefully you can see what we’re talking about.

I would love for a big franchise or studio to just drop their next big hit some day with zero leadup. HL3 would be perfect for it - just pop it up on the steam homepage and see what happens.

Adding context, the nearly-perfect-marks midterm was a take-home exam. Not that chatbots aren’t a big problem in schools right now, but this same thing would’ve happened 15 years ago.

I haven’t bought a console in over a decade, but I was under the impression the most/all “physical” copies these days were little more then digital download codes on discs. How many actually hold the whole game, enough to qualify as “owning” it?
- Comment on Valve’s Steam Controller stock shortage will last until next year after fans massively exceeded expectations 1 month ago:
Worth noting that’s not the date you should check back, more of a “by this date” suggestion. Reservations are still being served regularly, so keep an eye out for that email.
- Comment on Valve’s Steam Controller stock shortage will last until next year after fans massively exceeded expectations 1 month ago:
A queue system really undercuts any scalper that would consider the controller a good target. There will of course be people without patience that could payout, but the larger market will just wait until their turn to order comes up. Seems like a bad investment for someone that relies on FOMO to profit.

Same for all Indies bought up by larger companies. At best they seem to get broken up and dispersed in the company. Most just seem to be ballast used to pad stock value, then tossed when it’s the least bit beneficial to their owners.

Maybe? Someone better acquainted with the show/manga would be better able to say with any certainty, but my thought was that this was the result of multiple takes to get the most accurate attempts.

Why slop? Using a service contributing excessive harm to the very thing he’s spent his life promoting. Not very appropriate.
- Comment on Steam Controller: Reservations open May 8th - Steam News 3 months ago:
Instead of having people frantically trying to beat robo-scalpers through a system (predictably) crashing through surge of demand, people would get into the queue and scalpers would have had no incentive to exploit FOMO that wouldn’t exist. There probably would’ve still been a tech issues at the start, but it would’ve smoothed out on it’s own instead of having people wonder for a week if they’d be able to even submit an order, hoping they don’t miss the next announcement (which I almost did).

The was absolutely a queue.

- Comment on My quest to get a steam controller has failed 3 months ago:
People got errors during the check out,
And? With the queue, people were able to continue submitting orders as things calmed down. There will always be a rush to be first. The queue handles it better by not outright denying those who didn’t make it in right away. This also reduces the FOMO that funds scalpers’ abuse of the system.
As for account age, it doesn’t really matter when it is set at - any limitation reduces the number of bots able to spam real users out of a purchase. Admittedly, that only really helps if there’s also a limit on number of units bought, which I don’t think was implemented this time, either, for whatever reason.
