That’s literally how it works. If you run a store selling/licensing media you get to decide what’s on the shelves and what isn’t.
- Comment on Trump Family’s Crypto Empire Collapses: Nearly $1 Billion Wiped Out as World Liberty and Memecoins Crash 12 hours ago:
Going anywhere near any of Trump’s businesses is a guarantee for losses and regret. In Trump’s world there are only very few winners, basically only the ones paying for pardons. And it’ll be interesting to see if even this is worth it in the long run.

It is available on other, quite popular, stores. GOG and itch.io are household names in PC gaming.
- Comment on the game "Horses" now barred on Steam, Epic and Humble Bundle 1 day ago:
I haven’t heard about the details, what’s your source on that?
As far as I recall, the developer said he didn’t know the actual reason for the ban.
- Comment on the game "Horses" now barred on Steam, Epic and Humble Bundle 1 day ago:
Valve is pretty upfront about being a business first and foremost. Their customers are loyal because they consistently provide high value at reasonable prices, even though they are in a dominating position in the market. They’ve taken unpopular decisions in the past, but never any that seriously alienated a meaningful chunk of their customer base.

Based solely off the trailer I can see how a big American storefront would err on the side of caution here. There is very little to gain from carrying a game decidedly built with controversy in mind, but a lot to loose.
With the publicity around it and sales still possible through alternative stores maybe things will turn out alright for the developer in the end. “Banned” media is always in demand, after all.

No, of course not. And yet, thanks to it’s structure, obscurity, lemmy and the fediverse in general seem to be considerably less bot-infested than the commercial centralized platforms. We’ll see whether it stays this way.

The fact that real people still use this trash never fails to amaze me.

- Comment on The oldest Minecraft server, MinecraftOnline, is being shut down by Microsoft 5 weeks ago:
Everyone is entitled to their opinion about bigotry and slurs, but having soulless American mega-corporations enforcing the current lowest common denominator about what is acceptable is not the win some people might think it is. Sure, they might seem like they’re on your side, and thus the right side, now, but this can change quickly and radically.
- Comment on If I shut off the internet how many days do you think it would take before people lose their minds? 1 month ago:
From a business/productivity side it would be cataclysmic.
For the private life of people quite the opposite, things would get a lot more sane.

Now that I think about it, the situation in the US really does play out like an unconscionable large version of Lord of the Flies.

- Comment on Game Pass Price Hike Announced, Will Cost $30/Month For Ultimate 2 months ago:
I tried it and canceled it the moment the games I actually played started randomly disappearing. “Whoops, we only licensed this for a couple of months. You can still pay even more to ‘buy’ it, though. We might also re-license it later on, but who knows? Also, enjoy this absolute corporate trash we will shove into your face constantly!” No thanks.
- Comment on Star Citizen fans sigh deeply, rub their foreheads as developer casts doubt on Squadron 42's 2026 release: 'I don't know if we're going to make it' 2 months ago:
All I really wanted was SQ42 back when I supported it on Kickstarter. With my 20 bucks there’s no regret, but it’s quite funny where things have gone since then.
I install the latest alpha once every year and am both amazed and disappointed.
I don’t expect SQ42 to be released before 2030 and I do expect it to be a buggy, unoptimized mess when it finally arrives.
I’ve been thoroughly entertained all those years, though.

- Comment on Battlefield 6 Official Reveal Trailer 4 months ago:
Even in the pretty generic realm of military fps trailers, this one lacked the tiniest ambition of standing out. It almost dips into the realm of satire in it’s choice of themes and presentation which are all so obviously just lame rehashes of things we’ve all seen dozens of times before.
- Comment on Battlefield 6 Official Reveal Trailer 4 months ago:
This looks so generic I almost fell asleep. This franchise is on its last legs.

Is this real? Because it sounds like some low effort satire about blindly trusting LLMs and the totally expected outcomes. Surely no one can be this naive.
- Comment on Why doesn't Trump destroy or modify the Epstein files? 4 months ago:
If they tried to alter or destroy the files there is a good chance it would be found out, which would escalate the situation to a whole different level.

They took a huge bet on consolidation and it didn’t really pay off. Now they’re writing it off.
- Comment on Game Pass will "either kill everyone else, or give up", says Dishonored and Prey dev Arkane founder 4 months ago:
I tried GamePass PC until a whole bunch of my favourite games disappeared. So I had to buy them in the end l, which, given steam’s usual deals, was about the same as keeping my subscription. It’s not a great deal for discerning customers and people will notice.
