And remember: if the violence isn’t working, you’re not using enough violence!
Where there's a violence there's a way

Not all things are possible through violence. I cannot fix my internet router by throwing it across the room
RavingGrob@lemm.ee 3 weeks ago
By breaking the router, you force yourself to buy a new one. Thus the router is fixed.
moseschrute@lemmy.world 3 weeks ago
I think you should try throwing it before you rule that out as an option
pyre@lemmy.world 3 weeks ago
yeah but it’ll be a warning for the next router.

You need to direct that violence in the right direction. You don’t start a revolution by executing the dude taking drive through orders at burger king.
Try kidnapping a tech from your internet provider and cut off toes every few minutes until your wifi works. I guarentee you it’ll be up an running before you get to the second foot.
For the mods, though I know we’re not on Reddit: this is a joke.

I know it’s just a metaphor but it really would depend on what was wrong with the router.

I can’t imagine anyone here having been in the same room as an armed maniac ex-convict on drugs.
And not just one or with the same one, mind you.
That’s why I’d like to avoid violence. Honestly. I’ll put a lot of energy into it so we can avoid it.
But if the rich assholes won’t acquiesce, there is going to be violence.

According to this article, non-violent protests are even more effective than violent ones. Mobilise 3.5% of the population at once and you’re free. If any Americans try it, let me know how it goes.
Dasus@lemmy.world 3 weeks ago
Yeah the numbers need edit for actually meaningful and instant change are much lower than people think.
Not everyone needs to stand up. Not even one in ten have to. 3-4 people out of a hundred is enough.
And at any given time 3-4/100 are definitely up for violent revolution. And we don’t need a violent one. All we need is properly coordination. But for that, we need to accept others.
Which is why pretty much all media can do is FUD. Fear, uncertainty, doubt.
Apathy is the greatest tool of the oppressor.

Oh god remind me of a funny story of when I met a friends cousin who had just gotten outta prison for murder and I was staying at his house. The vibes were odd.
My friends dad and uncle were both cops in the area.
The guy had killed a dude from a family they had issues with. Something about land I think, dont remember.
Luckily the guy was intimidated by me. Went and played cricket with him later, he scared a kid and I had to step in again.
Dasus@lemmy.world 3 weeks ago
Yeah, uhm, not to dismiss you in any way, but I know a few non-psychopathic murderers. One was my neighbour. Nicely fella. One felt a bit threatened as he questioned me about my keys to the storage place we shares where someone had stolen a half a k of meth from him. Because I had honestly lost my second key. Luckily I found it so knew ot couldn’t have anything to do with me. He made very nice food as well. Cleanest apartment I ever saw. Guy was like 55. Died some years ago. Rip.
The people I’m talking about are people who’ve no regard, no empathy, ans can do anything at the flip of a coin. Unless you’re a massive dude (and I’m ~6ft) with training in self defense and (or) have a strap (which is very rare here), those guys will make you shit your pants.

Remember kids, violence is never the answer. But it’s always an answer.
InputZero@lemmy.world 3 weeks ago
Another way to put it. Violence isn’t the first answer, but it is the last.
Korhaka@sopuli.xyz 3 weeks ago
Violence is a pretty good answer when someone is trying to touch you without consent. Fist to the face and he stopped immediately.
