I didnât see through to the end because Rossman was making the same point over and over and over and over. But what he didnât talk about is that Netflix specifically does not provide the highest tier of quality to PCs. Thatâs to prevent piracy of super high quality streams. The blockage is very much intentional and not without cause. Similarly, Netflix often does not play well with a whole host of Android streaming devices over which they have no control of the stream for exactly the same reason.
I agree with him otherwise, I just wish heâd have gone into those reasons. Your super fast gaming rig being ânot compatibleâ has nothing to do with its impressive hardware specs.

It clearly says itâs on the paid tier only?
Not that I care much one way or the other. Iâm still frustrated with HBO Max selling me âad freeâ and then putting a skippable ad at the start of every video. Itâs not ad free if thereâs a âskippableâ ad!

I use the Brave browser, so the ads donât work thankfully, but yes, pirate all the things regardless.

Yeah ad blockers are great for that. I know from experience Peacock with ads will all be blocked if you have an ad blocker. But that only works on my computer not my Roku.
SatyrSack@lemmy.sdf.org â¨4⊠â¨weeks⊠ago
Is there a reason to emphasize âskippableâ here?
RoidingOldMan@lemmy.world â¨4⊠â¨weeks⊠ago
Because the app seems to think âad freeâ can include ads as long as they carry a âskipâ button. Which are still ads.
