It was a gamble that some lost and some won. In the 1920s and 30s, they had to contend with either placing their bets with rising socialism in the east or rising fascism in the west. They thought that they had a better chance with fascism and they were right. Many of them lost and were killed by the same maniacs they supported. Many others won and ran away with all their money and pretended that they were never part of that far right movement or just never said a word and let history forget it all. Ask any German multinational corporation that still exists today what they were doing in Germany in the 1930s and also ask what many American / British corporations, companies and banks were doing with their work with the Nazi government leading up to the war. How do you think a Germany that was sanctioned and prohibited to do anything was able to build a massive modern Army, Navy and Air Force leading up to the war.
The Oligarchs Who Came to Regret Supporting Hitler | They helped him in pursuit of profit. Many ended up in concentration camps.

Much like the 38+ Russian businessmen and oligarchs close to the Kremlin who were murdered following the invasion of Ukraine

Why are they murdered?
Tyfud@lemmy.world 1 month ago
To seize their assets as “state” assets after their deaths. It’s a somewhat common tactic of fascist regimes to treat their oligarchs as piggy banks.
Anytime you need some more money for the “state” (aka the dictator’s pockets), you knock off an oligarch and seize their assets.

They would all redo it the same way if only they could avoid the camps personally.

If you’re saying shit like “orange man bad” unironically I really don’t think you do.

You shouldn’t pay too much attention to Ilovethebomb. They have nothing but low quality bait and garbage takes in my experience 🤷

1 Timothy 6:10: For the love of money is the root of all evil.
That shit hit the nail on the head.

I believe money is, and always will be, the source of the majority of our societal problems.
until we figure out how to manage it in a way that benefits everyone, history will continue to repeat.
