For everyday I like the bonds with the cushioned soles. They come in different heights (low, crew etc). Seem to be on sale at least once a month. The colesworth underworks brand is similar. Not as thick like tradie socks, but thick enough that they donât get holes easily. For thin dress socks, I find cotton more durable than bamboo.

My boring sock saga.
I am sick of socks having only two or three wears before they get a hole. They are not too cheap, 10-15 a pair. My nails are good, I do do walking, so maybe socks are made for a more sedentary lifestyle. I canât wear tradie socks as they are too thick to fit in my shoes and I have wide feet. I have tried many brands and stores.
I bought some snoopy socks from typo/cotton on today, letâs see how they hold up.
What are your faves? Looking for some recommendations here.

I love him. The man says, who has wide feet, the best socks heâs ever had are woollen socks he got from Aldi.

Hmm, I have spent obnoxious amounts on socks and really havenât found ones that are all that⊠I think an old pair of snowboarding socks were my favourite for the functional aspect, but I hate the pilling if you wear them to bed.
Surprisingly, my boring Kmart socks have lasted a long time. I have quite a few pairs which might explain why it takes ages for a hole to appear.

Iâve got holeproof explorers from the 90s.
underwatermagpies@aussie.zone âš4â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Old explorers rock. Apparently the newer ones arenât nearly as good. But I havenât needed to replace my really old ones, so I donât actually know đ€·

Macpac socks are pretty good - you can get thinner general ones that fit in regular shoes
Seagoon_@aussie.zone âš4â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Itâs better to buy good socks even if they are more expensive as they are less expensive and less bother than cheaper ones.
Canât help wondering if general quality has fallen the past decade?

Possum or alpaca socks are my favourite. Super warm and last for years. Theyâre thick though so might not work for you. I think I bought my last lot from Creswick Woollen Mill.

I have switched mostly to menâs socks - my feet are right at the top of the standard size range for women, which means they are more stretched and wear holes quicker. The larger sizes of womenâs socks are often a bit too big and less available, but the standard size in menâs business socks tends to work well.
Seagoon_@aussie.zone âš4â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Iâve have thought of that, even been thinking of buying mens shoes as I have wide feet.

Iâve been rocking fila socks since lockdowns.
White for home and gym and black ones for work.
4 years on and still got the same pairs
Seagoon_@aussie.zone âš4â© âšmonthsâ© ago
ok. And where did you buy these magic socks?
MeanElevator@aussie.zone âš4â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Rebel sport I think.
Maybe even target.
FILA the sports brand, make good socks.
Seagoon_@aussie.zone âš4â© âšmonthsâ© ago
Target definitely sells FILA brand, they are good quality and well prices.

Black Kmart bamboo fibre crew socks. I have about 6 pairs (theyâre cheap) and have them on high rotation. Theyâve done about a year now and are still pretty much as good as new. Excellent support, and they stay up really well too. I too have wide feet, so these have been a lifesaver. No holes as yet. They do have fierce elastic at the tops, so if you have circulation issues these might not be the best choice. I wash them in the regular laundry and air dry if possible and finish them off in the tumble dryer if not.
