My favorite part of the Bible is Matthew 21:33-45; basically killing landlords is cool and the people who do the work deserve the reward
33 âListen to another parable: There was a landowner who planted a vineyard. He put a wall around it, dug a winepress in it and built a watchtower. Then he rented the vineyard to some farmers and moved to another place. 34 When the harvest time approached, he sent his servants to the tenants to collect his fruit.
35 âThe tenants seized his servants; they beat one, killed another, and stoned a third. 36 Then he sent other servants to them, more than the first time, and the tenants treated them the same way. 37 Last of all, he sent his son to them. âThey will respect my son,â he said.
38 âBut when the tenants saw the son, they said to each other, âThis is the heir. Come, letâs kill him and take his inheritance.â 39 So they took him and threw him out of the vineyard and killed him.
40 âTherefore, when the owner of the vineyard comes, what will he do to those tenants?â
41 âHe will bring those wretches to a wretched end,â they replied, âand he will rent the vineyard to other tenants, who will give him his share of the crop at harvest time.â
42 Jesus said to them, âHave you never read in the Scriptures:
"âThe stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone; the Lord has done this, and it is marvelous in our eyesâ[h]?
43 âTherefore I tell you that the kingdom of God will be taken away from you and given to a people who will produce its fruit. 44 Anyone who falls on this stone will be broken to pieces; anyone on whom it falls will be crushed.â
45 When the chief priests and the Pharisees heard Jesusâ parables, they knew he was talking about them. 46 They looked for a way to arrest him, but they were afraid of the crowd because the people held that he was a prophet.
Jesus: socialism
Pharisees: time to kill him
History just repeats itself forever.
Oh, I didnât know that Socialism means murdering everyone who wonât worship you.
Which is what Jesus promised to do when He returns at the head of a Holy Army.
Learn something new every day
Yeah, but also Jesus, also in Matthew, just 4 chapters later:
âFor it will be like a man going on a journey, who called his servants and entrusted to them his property. To one he gave five talents, to another two, to another one, to each according to his ability. Then he went away. He who had received the five talents went at once and traded with them, and he made five talents more. So also he who had the two talents made two talents more. But he who had received the one talent went and dug in the ground and hid his masterâs money. Now after a long time the master of those servants came and settled accounts with them. And he who had received the five talents came forward, bringing five talents more, saying, âMaster, you delivered to me five talents; here, I have made five talents more.â His master said to him, âWell done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a little; I will set you over much. Enter into the joy of your master.â And he also who had the two talents came forward, saying, âMaster, you delivered to me two talents; here, I have made two talents more.â His master said to him, âWell done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a little; I will set you over much. Enter into the joy of your master.â He also who had received the one talent came forward, saying, âMaster, I knew you to be a hard man, reaping where you did not sow, and gathering where you scattered no seed, so I was afraid, and I went and hid your talent in the ground. Here, you have what is yours.â But his master answered him, âYou wicked and slothful servant! You knew that I reap where I have not sown and gather where I scattered no seed? Then you ought to have invested my money with the bankers, and at my coming I should have received what was my own with interest. So take the talent from him and give it to him who has the ten talents. For to everyone who has will more be given, and he will have an abundance. But from the one who has not, even what he has will be taken away. And cast the worthless servant into the outer darkness. In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.ââ
Jesus was kind of a dick.
The stories contradict each other to the point that my top guess is they were written by different people. Either that or one person gathered a bunch of different stories attributed to Jesus and just wrote them all down rather than checking if the messages contained within were consistent or not.
Iâd bet that that passage was added during the Roman times, between Constantine adopting it and the fall of the western empire, when Rome was crumbling under the weight of its corruption but the beaurocracy still functioned.
I feel like youâre taking a very different lesson from that. Heâs saying God is the landlord, and the pharisees are the tenants, and when God sent them person after person to get them to behave right, they mistreated them, and then prophesizes his own death by them. Then he says the Kingdom of God will be taken from them (the bad tenants) and given to the rejected (which is a regular theme for Jesus, chilling with the social rejects and talking shit to the religious leaders).
Basically, heâs not applauding the tenants. Heâs saying the Landlord (God) is going to kick them out of his vineyard (his kingdom) for being assholes.
Eh, if christofascists can claim Sodom and Gamorrah is about homosexuality and not disrespect for God, then we can take this verse
Jesus doing far-left radical anti-government extremist propaganda. If Donald Trump had been Caeser, heâd have done something about it
Jesus says render unto Caesar that which is Caesarâs, and that any rulers are there because God selected them.
He selected Donald Trump, friend.

Dude, my favorite is 2Kings 2:23:24
âThen he went up from there to Bethel; and as he was going up by the way, young lads came out from the city and mocked him and said to him, âGo up, you baldhead; go up, you baldhead!â When he looked behind him and saw them, he cursed them in the name of the LORD. Then two female bears came out of the woods and tore up forty-two lads of their number.â
God kills 42 kids for calling someone bald LOL

That verse is funny as fuck, definitely up there with some of the best. Along with killing all of the pigs being raised for food in a village, because they were all apparently possessed by an army of demons

âKilling?â Even when mocking an opponent, at least be accurate; the demons possessed the pigs who then rushed into water and drowned themselves: biblehub.com/mark/5-13.htm

I analyzed this verse as part of my Bible 101 course in college. The NIV (preferred by biblical scholars) is that Jesus drove the pigs to their death as a continuation of the Mesopotamian tradition of religious warriors

According to Jesus, He should have known the demons would possess the pigs. Heâs God.
AT LEAST BE ACCURATE

Itâs less violent, but Jesus killing a fig tree because it wasnât fig season is also really funny.
