It’s a great thing to see someone can protect them selves and rid us of a slum of a human

Coincidentally, i don’t need anything to defend myself where i live because all weapons are illegal to carry in public, i can carry chilli pepper spray but that’s it

Even if they outlawed guns in the US. There would be plenty of them, people would just go down to mexico

This is a very bad mentality, you can progress like this; They can just send a mail to everyone who has a gun permit and ask them to give the gun to the nearest police station or to apply tto get the new gun permit within a 15 days deadline

This absolutely is a thing in some gun circles. They will open carry their main weapon, and then ankle holster a small derringer style. And every gun nut will point to stories like this and say SEE IM NOT CRAZY.

You have to admit, he was right.

It’s like carrying a backup fire extinguisher to go with your fire extinguisher.
You’ll probably never need one, and while it’s not impossible (see: this incident), it’s very unlikely that you’ll need both.
I’m a one fire extinguisher kind of guy. That makes me far more prepared than 0 but not as insane and impractical as 2.

I mean, you could shoot the fire. Works on hurricanes I hear.

Thing is if I was this guy I would feel 100% vindicated because of this moment.
I think it would make sense depending on where at in the us you live. If you live in a high crime metropolitan area then I’d say go for it.
If you live in the Styx or in a relatively low crime area its overkill.
On the other hand, sometimes when a criminal sees you have a gun they just shoot you immediately that has happened in my city several times, someone pulls a gun on them but holds it like a limp dick because they are scared and the thing they don’t realize is the person robbing them at gun point likely uses that gun every day…
Its nuanced and I really don’t know the solution to it at all because if you take them away from everyone those people that use them every day and rob people at gun point will still have them and if you’re counting on the police to help you HA good luck.

The Styx as in … the mythical river that runs through the underworld? Yeah, I can see that being a low crime area…
(Sorry, european here, if you meant someplace in the US, I’ve never heard of it)

Out in the sticks (or styx i suppose) just means outin the middle of nowhere, generally a mile between neighbors. Small town stuff

I used to be buddies with a retired NYPD patrolman. He said it was overwhelmingly common to have your service piece in your hip-holster and an unregistered “drop gun” in an ankle-holster. The idea being, if you need to shoot someone, you can cover your ass by dropping the spare on the body and saying they brandished it at you.
He wasn’t the type to exaggerate or make shit up, so I tend to believe him on this. Just further proof, though: ACAB.
