  The shifting pronouns midway through threw me off for a while because I couldn’t track how many characters were active in the scene. Basically, though, the lord is transfem. The farmer addresses her as female (and maybe compliments her chest, not sure). She thanks him, because she was boymoding (attempting to present as male because that’s what’s expected of her), but the farmer recognized her as female anyway.

    Estrogen in pill form was originally derived (and in some cases still is!) from pregnant horse piss.

    The trans noblewoman is collecting the piss levy to make her estrogen.

    I think (though I have low confidence in it here) that he is complimenting her rippling muscles, which isn’t necessarily what the peasant sees, but what the peasants thinks is appropriate for someone in armor.

    Fuck If I know what ‘her “male faileth”’ is supposed to mean, though.

      “Male fail” is a slang term from the trans community (at least online, not sure how widespread it is in general). It refers to when a trans woman is trying to fly under the radar by presenting as male (also known as boy-moding), but for whatever reason does not manage to pass as one and is recognized as female. Sometimes due to mannerisms, sometimes because their HRT has progressed too far, etc. This is usually seen as a good thing, since it is gender-affirming to not be seen as your assigned gender, but can also be dangerous if it leads to transphobic abuse.

      In this case, the implication is that the local “Lord” has been collecting pregnant mare urine to extract feminizing hormones for ye olde HRT, and is embarrassed and happy that it is apparently working, since the peasant saw her as a lady.

      Male fail is when a trans woman is attempting to “boy mode” (dress masculine as to either stay in the closet in a situation or just generally not deal with being read as trans in that context) and is still read as female. It’s a sign that the hormones have really been doing their thing.

      And yeah he basically said nice tits to her

    It’s less that I’m confused about what’s happening on a surface level (though some of that is indeed a bit unclear with all that fake-old timey speak), and more that I’m confused what the OP actually wants to express with this story. Like, is this pro trans or anti-trans?

      Sorry for replying a week later, but I highly suspect anyone familiar with the terms “boymode” and “male fail” is likely an ally or trans themselves. You’d really only be familiar with those if you frequent trans spaces.
