The German green party being pro fossil fuels is just hilarious to me.

isnt the american green party anti nuclear too from the cold war?
Gradually_Adjusting@lemmy.world 4 days ago
The American green party is outright electoral onanism. They seek few offices below the presidency and govern essentially nothing. Sure they talk about being pro this or anti that, but it’s purely hypothetical. We can’t know how they would govern until they have done any.

They have more lower office holders than all other third parties. But go off on your 1980s era propaganda. It sure worked for you guys this past election… And in 2016…
michaelmrose@lemmy.world 4 days ago
They have existed for 40 years and never held federal office nor ever won state level office as a green and remained green . The 8 state level folks that have ever served in 40 years consist of hilarious shit like winning as a green and then switching parties and winning as a dem switching to green and losing.
It is literally 40 years of continuous failure with absolutely nothing to show for it.

Than other third parties… Exactly what percentage of elected offices in the US are held by third parties?
Keep working on that third party strategy. It sure worked for you guys this past election… And in 2016… and in every other damn year.

So we’re on the same page, www.gpelections.org/greens-in-office/
I see a few city councillors and a smaller number of townie mayors. One of the three mayors runs a place with a population of sixty. I’ve voted for greens and will again, but what I’m seeing doesn’t match the bravado on display.

jesus fucking christ, if you want people to understand you, use more commonly used words. No one is impressed that you know what onanism is, just say “masturbation” or “jerking off” or “self gratification” or something jesus.

But it’s so self-gratifying 😩

The departure from nuclear energy was driven by the coalition of CDU and SPD back when Fukushima happened, and now the CDU is trying to blame the greens for it. Sadly, its successful bexauye people are stupid and have the memory of goldfish.

Now that’s a typo. Thought you were on about tapestries for a moment.
Fisch@discuss.tchncs.de 4 days ago
Aside from that, the transition away from nuclear was the right move. We didn’t even end up using more coal because of that. Prices should also have gone down but I only know the statistics of the last few years where prices went down mainly because of more renewables. At the end of the day, prices could be a lot lower tho if energy companies weren’t privatized but The Left (like, the Partei called “Die Linke”) is the only party that wouldn’t be against that. The Greens are still prioritizing profits for the ruling class above all.

I remember germany having to start coal plants after the russian attack on ukraine. No? Am i misremembering things?
Tartas1995@discuss.tchncs.de 3 days ago
You are misremembering. Germany extended a coal mine to maintain its current coal usage. Germany’s coal usage has be declining for decades and declined in 2024 as well.
Germany will (and probably shouldn’t) give up on coal completely as it is the only kind of fuel that they have direct access to (besides renewal ones) and being able to generate a lot of energy on demand, can be important in war settings. So Germany has a military interest to maintain some coal mines and power plants. It sucks but someone somewhere is always starting wars.
