girl: You didn’t ask for consent.
op: [hands penis statue back] Can you show me?
girl: [asks penis for consent. Mimics penis responding ‘yes’ in Muppet voice. Proceeds to slowly and erotically apply condom while maintaining eye contact with op.]
op: I’m not getting it. Do you offer private tutoring?

Circuit City blew all their money trying to create a disposable DVD called Divx. It was intended to replace video rental stores.

I feel like this is just gift wrapping being a dumb racist hick in prettier paper. They are scared of cities because their full of black people, gays, and Mexicans. They like assholes who show the same level of hate as they do - who will keep the black people, gays, and Mexicans away. And they like someone who justifies hiding behind religion so they can tell themselves that God made them this dumb and rascist. So they can delude themselves into thinking they are really the good guy.

It needs to be a nobody. Frankly, probably an boring older white man, so people could picture them in the Pres seat if needed, but otherwise unremarkable. Keep the interest on Kamala.

- Comment on [Weekly thread] What have you been watching lately? 30 March 2024 8 months ago:
- Lift - Netflix - total garbage. Like a really bad "oceans 11"
- Shogun - Hulu - Pretty entertaining. It’s 50% culture clash between Japan and a “Barbarian” from London, and 50% warring Japanese clans.
- Bill Burr - Paper Tiger - Netflex standup. The feminism jokes at the beginning already feel dated, but if you stick it out, the latter half is pretty great.
- Halo - Paramount+ - Season 1 was fun, but pretty slow. Season 2 picks up and starts to have a compelling story. I never played the game btw.
- Curb your Enthusiasm - HBO (I’m not calling it Max - no one knows what that is). For me, this continues to be some of the best comedy I’ve ever watched.

- Comment on What does "araffe" mean? 8 months ago:
Whatever/whoever posts these captions used to often use the word “lingers” to describe lingerie. Ex: “Women in lingers on a bed.”
One day, some guy responded to a post and said he couldn’t take it anymore and to stop saying it. It actually stopped. Hasn’t used that word since as far as I’ve seen.

I’m only half joking. I had a neighbor who I used to describe as slightly conservative-leaning. He suffered a brain injury on the job and is now a full tilt QAnon MAGA goofball.
- Comment on Can you live a fulfilling life with autism? 9 months ago:
Autism, especially higher functioning, often comes with clinical-level anxiety. Definately talk to a psychiatrist and therapist. If you’re already on anxiety meds that aren’t working, try a different one. Keep in mind that the wrong one can cause suicidal thoughts. They vary quite a bit, and new ones are coming out all the time. You’ll eventually find one that helps take the edge off your anxiety. That will help you cope with the other things better. From my experience, things also get naturally better as you age, so there is light in the tunnel.

- Comment on Dollar Stores: Last Week Tonight with John Oliver (HBO) 1 year ago:
Dollar General is not a “dollar store”. It just happens to have the word “dollar” in the name. They are a normal general store whose bread and butter are poor neighborhoods or far enough out in the sticks that Walmart won’t build.

- Comment on McDonald's franchisee group says new $20 minimum wage California fast-food bill will cause 'devastating financial blow' 1 year ago:
BS. They said the same thing about $15, then COVID forced it on them (and presumably also raised their own costs for supplies), and it’s been fine. I think my McDs charges 1.25 for a soda now instead of a dollar.

I’m confused. I’m not a Sheeran fan at all, and definitely fuck scabs, but in this case, it seems the employees are all working. In other words, he didn’t cross a picket line to go work a shift. This seems like sensationalist bs.
- Comment on Scrum is a cancer 1 year ago:
I think the bigger question might be: “Why is so much effort being made to ‘manage’ developers and their work?” Do other departments have so many different process theories on how best to manage themselves?
From my experience, it’s because most dev teams I’ve been on are completely disfunctional. Most devs I’ve worked with won’t invest in learning the apps and the business. They want to effectively “color by number”. So, when they are given work, they are starting from zero every time. So, they can’t estimate. They can’t meet deadlines. They can’t communicate. They are slow. They are practically begging to be “managed”.
When I’ve been fortunate enough to work with good developers, we don’t get “managed” like this guy describes.
