- Comment on If I could a buffalo chicken chili kale salad would the show off my cooking skills? 4 days ago:
Depending on your tastes a cottage pie or moussaka are simple (each has their own challenges like the mash on the cottage pie) but they are tasty and can look quite good in a big crock pot or something.
If you are doing this to impress then no matter what, tidy up after yourself and have a plan for any leftovers if you make too much.
- Comment on What is with alot of movie or tv torrents being in Russian all of a sudden? 1 week ago:
Russia pirating everything is why the R5 DVD was a thing. Usually rushed out before any other region to try and stop them pirating a movie.
- Comment on No Such Thing 2 weeks ago:
Inflation is the single biggest issue in the system imho Inflation is why shareholders expect more money this year than last year, so companies do shitty things to squeeze money out of a company for them. Doing the same thing year on year doesn’t always mean you get more.
Take farmers, they aren’t getting more for milk or grain year on year. The companies that process those things have been pushing up prices and squeezing the farmers that are paying more for feed, fuel and other things though.
Companies existing just to service investors and shareholders is destroying everyday life as they try to min-max there way through.
Water companies on the verge of collapse as lack of investment catches up with them. Shrinkflation in products we buy and use. Examples are everywhere but the “experts” are still taught from the same books written 50 years ago. Theory of economics is just a theory, try looking at what is happening out there for a while instead.

- Comment on How would you safely and privately child-proof a PC? 2 weeks ago:
If you are going the Windows route Microsofts family settings can create a child account that is locked down and has usage time limits and a bed time that will lock the PC.
It isn’t perfect but does give you some insight into what they are using he PC for.
Google do something similar for Android devices + Chrome/Google search.
OpenDNS has a family friendly DNS that is filtered and free to add another layer to any device.
As others have said anything you do will only slow them down. It’s like swearing, you can ban them doing it around you but they’ll still do it at school with their friends. Sometimes they’ll slip up and use a word at the wrong time and you will have to remind them what is appropriate but as a parent it’s what you are there for, helping them form a decent set of guidelines on what and when things are appropriate.
- Comment on A pattern of negative posts about the BBC 3 weeks ago:
I am looking the BBC playing the large orange pant shitter at his own game and him hating it.
I hold all news outlets in the same regard, they sensationalise or ignore when it suits them and are there as Ad space more than anything for the most part. Clickbait. Clickbait. Clickbait. Traffic, Ads, REVENUE.
The cycle has kinda put me off most news sites/feeds.

Cries in Max Payne.
Borderlands I haven’t watched, the trailer was enough to put me off.
The first Resident Evil I really liked though. The Street Fighter movie with Vandamme and Kylie was camp fun.

The government would have to take the hit and substitute the shares for bonds of equal or greater value. They should never lose value at least going forward.
- Comment on Thames Water has given a 14% pay rise to its CEO and a 26% rise to its finance director 1 month ago:
They will run out of money altogether inside a year and cannot attract new investment at the moment.
They should not be paying any of the top level management at all, let alone paying them bonuses.
Nationalise the water, gas and electricity suppliers. Nationalise public transport, railways and buses especially. Sod shareholders and make the bloody things work properly and stay working.

- Comment on Destiny 2 is dead: "active development" ends next month after one final update, but Bungie says the MMO will still be "playable" 3 months ago:
I have played a lot of Destiny 2, I really enjoyed Final Shape and just after but the portal was the beginning of the end. It killed the flow and the scale of the game in one go.
I’ll probably jump in for some of the changes and to slaughter a few teams in Gambit one more time but I doubt I’ll play much at all after that.

- Comment on Anon tries to understand credit scores 8 months ago:
Easy. It’s a scam to screw over anyone they feel like.
It stopped being a can the applicant afford their current outgoings and afford this loan type system a loooong time ago. Now it’s a noose round the neck of anyone that has ever lost a job and missed a couple of payments or got screwed over by a company changing billing software. The number means nothing, I’m sure on some kind of grading curve it averages out but so would throwing darts at a board and assigning scores that way.
The rich fail up and everyone else has to play by the rules or get fucked over.

- Comment on best episodes for people who've never seen star trek? 1 year ago:
There’s a lot of episodes that only have impact of you are invested in the characters. Some are or self contained so could be worth a watch but it depends on the audience.
If anyone that likes sci-fi asks me I always say DS9. It has plot arcs and characters that grow, also a few silly and not so good bits but it stands up.
If they like that or like something similar like Stargate, seaquest, farscape or Sliders then we can find something for them, if they haven’t really tried sci-fi then you could do worse than strange new worlds within Trek or commit and try The Expanse for some modern sci-fi that kicks ass.

They forced something nobody asked for or had a use for beyond the quick what does it do? Then wandered why no one used it? Shocked Pikachu face.
The meta one in WhatsApp, utterly pointless. Copilot non-use to me at all. Gemini has less features than the old Google assistant and is worse in every way at doing the things it does do.
It would be great itlf they’d stop reshaping a working OS around fads.
Tablets went nowhere and left a big scar on Windows and now AI is gonna do the same.
They missed the boat on the one thing that could have made them money, gaming. If they’d put half the effort of this copilot crap into integrating something to compete with steam around that time then things would be very different.
This AI bubble needs to pop. It’s had it’s fun, it has some niches but for day to day usage at work and home it’s of no use to the vast majority of people.
- Comment on Companies that list all their products, but don't explain the different product lines suck. 1 year ago:
It’s the same with energy pricing, 15 different rates for the same gas and electricity just from one supplier. Half of them you aren’t eligible for for some reason but they won’t tell you outright you have to dig through the terms.
Then comparison sites appear to help, some suppliers aren’t on them “to keep pricing simple”, aaarrgghh.
It just means in most cases you end up paying too much for something and they make more money out of you.

So many firms with different rules, seemingly a law unto themselves. No way to appeal when they know they are already right.
They should not be able to impose the levels of fines they try to now. They should be spot checked from time to time to ensure they have processes in place to deal with people fairly.

Birthdays late December/early January suck.
Everyone is busy, everywhere puts the prices up if you do manage to get people together and then there’s the joint Xmas and birthday gifts, ugh.
Anon needs to get out to a all you can eat buffet, eat a good meal go home and sleep it off. Probably won’t land them a partner but they’ll get to try a bunch of foods and have a conversation starter for when they do meet up with someone.

For us no.
For Joe public yes.
It’s all about the numbers, go after a few to scare the masses then give them a safe alternative.
If enshitification comes in to it and it starts to look better to pirate (shows/films disappearing, ads, bloat, needing 15 different subscriptions and so on) then piracy will increase again.
For me Netflix/Disney+/Prime have laid the foundation of no longer relying on Sky’s overpriced satellite packages at least so there’s a positive.
