I’ve got the Civilization pop up in my head with a leader telling you to move your troops away from their border or they will declare war on you.

If you’re a fan of animation and don’t mind gore, Castlevania is available on Blu-ray. I just watched all 4 seasons. Some of those scenes are just incredible.

- Comment on Copyright Doesn’t Provide A ‘Living’ For A Successful Author 1 month ago:
I believe the default assumption is that anything you created is yours, which seems reasonable to me. I don’t need to be DaVinci for my doodles to be mine, the quality or value of the work does not change that it is mine.
Now, imagine someone took your doodles and started selling them in a book they called “1000 of the Worst Fucking Failures of Art.” That would probably be offensive to you, and on top of it they are profiting off of your work (regardless of how much you actually put in).
Copyright gives you a tool to combat them legally to get your art removed or even damages if you were now known as “That person who tried and failed horribly to make art.” There is a saying along the lines of doing 1000 good deeds is good, but you fuck one goat and you’ll be known as a Goat Fucker.
You could, of course, fail to defend your copyright which, in some places, is seen as acceptance of how it is being used. You could also release the copyright and allow the work to enter the public domain so that anyone can use it for any purpose, including their worst art book.
- Comment on Maybe, just maybe, a company that refuses to give you time off if you have a bullet inside of you is a really really shitty company 1 month ago:
I literally quit over that kind of thing, on top of a bunch of other issues.
Got really sick on a Tuesday, but I had my laptop and was able to push myself and work half the day before passing out and sleeping 18 of the next 24 hours. I had let my boss and coworkers know I would be trying to work, but was sick and may not be able to do much. Because I slept so long, I was not awake prior to my start time the next day. I was then berated during a meeting with my boss a month later because I didn’t let them know I was going to be sick for a second day.
What the fuck am I suppose to do, set an alarm to ensure I wake up in the morning to send a “Hey, still fucking sick.” message? If the last thing you hear from me is that I’m sick, chances that it will be true the next day and that is an easy assumption to work off of. Perhaps having no backup to my position, which I had been pushing for since the interview for the job, was a shit plan!
I handed in my resignation the next day; that kind of de-humanizing outlook on employees is not worth the pay.

“… for time off without an approved request two weeks in advance.”
You need to let them know, need to find someone to cover for you, and need a manager to approve the request.

- Comment on How do I make a domain account on Windows have administrative privelleges to use a particular app? 2 months ago:
Honestly, I’ve seen this too many times working in IT. The best option was always to set up a computer with a local administrator account, no access to the secure network, and let the entire department have access to it.
Install the camera software(s) on there and only there. Videos are then exported into a common file type and transferred through USB or DVD.
I’ve worked with Police departments that had dozens of different, unique software each with their own proprietary codec. Every time they requested a recording from a business there would be another unsigned .exe to run. Straight garbage.

Some places have restrictions on the size of installed signs. That’s why you see signs slapped on the side of buses, shopping containers, trailers, etc.

It’s been 14,000 years since a creature was born with the ability to reach that deep or a proper fear of what they will find if they do. Environmental pressure is a hell of a driver of evolution.

Step 1: Take pictures so that you can look back when you want to. The items are gone, but the memories are not. Step 2: Give them to someone who will appreciate them. Tell them the story so they can truly know what they meant to your family.

It’s somewhat comforting to know that no matter how far out in the wild you go you eventually find signs of humanity.
The fact those signs are pieces of trash that someone either left or blew in on the wind is depressing.

- Comment on Anon casts a healing spell 5 months ago:
I have a character idea for a cleric that idolizes the god of pain.
They focus almost entirely on healing because you can’t keep suffering if you’re dead, if you’re alive you can grow stronger, and therefore, in their own twisted mind, if you’re suffering you’re growing stronger.
They don’t heal people right away unless not doing so would cause them to die and end their suffering. Instead, if the battle is over, they pull out a chart and start asking about how painful the wound is. This can be excruciating for the one who has to sit there and answer questions until they get healed.
The other portion of their build would focus on fighting the undead because they are abominations who cannot feel pain and cannot grow stronger because of it
The god goes along with it because their normal clerics may be into torture, which is great for pain, but they tend to get hunted down because of their extreme methods. This cleric causes pain indirectly by being surrounded by a bunch of murderhobos.
